Have pipe dreams of Vietnam next Easter with our then 7YO dd. Has anyone done this? Can anyone recommend a good tour company to book through or give any tips? We want a nice mix of adventure vs relaxation. Thanks x

Vietnam is more of a backpacking experience

You just turn up and navigate from there

There are definitely loads of organised tours... There's no way I'd go somewhere like Vietnam with a young child and just wing it.

Going with a 6 and a 1 year old this Easter, just booked it all ourselves. Flights with Qatar and done most the hotels through booking.com

TiredArse · 13/01/2024 16:04

Do you mean a tour with other families or solo? Intrepid do the former.

No preference as such. Just want to feel safe and the stress of travelling to the different areas taken away really

It will be great. We decided which places we wanted to visit, and then asked each hotel to book local tours, and also cars with drivers between locations, which was an inexpensive way to do it and felt very safe.

We went with Intrepid last year at Easter on their family trip with our 10 and 12 yr old. They loved it and had other kids to play with in the group. It included family friendly activities which they liked

Thanks, would you say that the weather is ideal at this time of year? Is there anything you wish you had/hadn't done within the tour?

We enjoyed the tour and our leader was really good. The accommodation was basic so you might want to upgrade. . It was hot and humid but doable

Really interested in this. Do you mind me asking a rough budget for this sort of holiday? Thanks

lovetosup · 13/01/2024 16:48

Prices are all on their website :-)

I've taken my kids on Intrepid Family holidays. I'd recommend them as there are other children to hang out with.
Intrepid seem to be a good company. I'd look at them first as all the work is done for you.

It is easy to do it yourself in Vietnam.
Next Easter is a good month to travel in Vietnam.
How many days do you plan to spend in Vietnam?

Start in Saigon (South) and make your way up to Hanoi (North) via Danang/ Hoian (Central VN).
You can also do some beach time while staying in Danang/ Hoian.

We went this past October for 2 weeks with our 12 year old. Travellers North to South as a family. Was amazing. Booked with Selective Asia who made a bespoke intinery for us with a good mix of activity and down time where we did our own thing. Would highly recommend as having a guide at each place meant we learnt so much more about the country, history and culture rather than making your own way around. Also made all the travel and transfers really easy and meant you got to focus on the holiday and the time together rather than sorting out how to get from A to B.

To give you an idea of budget, all hotel stays, 3x food tours, 2 boat cruises including one high end overnight, guides, transfers, minibus with driver, day cooking school and all entry fees and tours, plus 2 internal flights came to £6k. Would also recommend flying with Qatar with a stopover as the economy seats are much better than standard with better leg room.

Thanks. What would you say were the most memorable things you did? Did anything make you feel unsafe at all whilst you were there?
