My dad is about to set off and go camping around the mediterranean, lucky sod! Me and dd are going out to see him in June for a long weekend when dd will be 3. Does anyone know which car seats I'll need there, last time we hired one with the hire car, but we'll be in my dads car this time. Is it possible to hire just a car seat, would I be better off buying a basic one over there? We won't be travelling around alot, I don't want to take her one with us as it cost about £80 and I wouldn't trust the airline with it. Would she need a full seat or just a booster?Ta!

Guidelines are similar as here, part of EU. See www.childcarseats.org.uk/countries/france.htm , however in past haven't found this site 100% reliable. You may struggle to rent just a seat .

We took ours with us - the first time we hired one and it was horrible. I would take yours with you to be honest

A booster is all that you'll need and they can usually be picked up very cheaply from any large supermarket.

Also, word of warning. We put DS in the front of the car for a while (on proper seat)because he was bored senseless. Got pulled over by police who said this was illegal in France.

can't you take your own car seat on the plane for your dd to sit in en route?

Just buy a booster seat in any big supermarket, that's all you'll need and much less hassle than taking yours with you.
