BALI IN APRIL - VILLA OR HOTEL ?

Wimle · 10/01/2024 15:53

Just looking for some opinions from people who have visited Bali.

We are hoping to go in April (me, my partner and our nearly 3 year old) for two weeks.

The difficulty we're having is whether to choose a private villa or go to a hotel? What are the pros and cons?

Obviously with a hotel you have the staff, the bar, restaurants, pool, cleaning etc. However, I know there are villas you can get where staff are included so thinking this could be a better option.

We know that we won't be able to do many activities as we've got our toddler with us but we still hope to explore the island and do some fun bits.

Our budget is roughly £4000 for accommodation & flights (flights are looking to be about 2k for the 3 of us atm)

Any tips or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

i think that’s a somewhat ambitious budget for a private villa with staff including flights!! 😂

We've done both many times, depending on the group.
With just the three of you, and the youngster being so small, I'd think
that a hotel would have more "input" - other kids around, splash areas, etc. Plus world-class breakfasts every morning!

Have a look at somewhere like the Grand Hyatt, with its own section of beach + kids' club and lazy river.

for 2 weeks in lovely location? includes cook?

Sorry shite at using Mumsnet, no not including cook but my mate went last year and hired a private chef every other day for about £15 and they cooked enough food to last the two or three days

Oh, and don't know which airline you're looking at, but if it flies via Singapore, it's SO worth stopping off for a few days!

It really depends on how important it is for you to have a private pool or not. We went to Bali a few years ago (before kids) and stayed in hotels. We found eating out to be very reasonably priced. However, if your 3 year old has a nap during the day, you might find it nicer to have a villa so you you can put them in bed and you can sit by the pool. Same if they go to bed in the evening at 7pm. In a hotel you would be confined to your hotel room with them. We rented villas when our 2 were little (not in Bali) and it worked for us. Same people are happy for their kids to nap in the pushchair, but if it's very hot you might want them to be where there's air con.

@SLeanne thank you! We are normally the more loose parents that let him stay up later on holidays or have naps in the pushchair but you're right about the heat!

It looks like the holiday has been postponed anyway as we've just found out we are having baby no 2! So think we'll save the trip for next year to go with the two kiddies so will be even more to think about then!

What about a hotel room with a private pool? - we stayed in hotel in Seminyak ( Samaya Seminyak) and had our own pool as well as access to the hotel pool and beach...loads of places to eat out in Seminyak too and very family friendly
