We went to Copenhagen last December.
We stayed at the Anderson Boutique hotel for a special birthday. It was lovely, warm, cosy and had lots of candles. It felt very Christmassy.
We only did 2 nights but felt one extra night would have been good.
We got a really good deal with BA holidays and including flights it wasn’t much more than the hotel wanted just for a room. Best continental breakfast I’ve ever had - it was just lovely.
If you don’t have your room cleaned you can get a “reward” - we picked a bar voucher for the sister hotel across the road. It paid for a beer 🤣
The hotel doesn’t have its own bar but between 5-6pm you can have a free glass of wine and then other glasses are 50% off. It’s an honesty bar but even though the bar man added it onto the sheet, they didn’t charge us for the extra two glasses we had one night.
Although you do need to check your bill when leaving as I had a G&T on my bill I definitely didn’t have but they took it off straight away.
We had a really lovely meal at Maple Casual dining and they have a sister restaurant - Bloom - across the street. It was lovely.
We also ate at Karla- but I didn’t rate it and wouldn’t go back. Was really expensive for the quality of the food and I feel it is hugely overrated on Tripadvisor. Think I paid £8 for a large coke!
I booked our restaurants about a month in advance and I’m really glad I did. Other guests in the hotel were struggling to book anywhere whilst there.
If we went back or I could do it all again I would have booked a table at The Olive Tree Kitchen & Bar.
We did a Free Walking Tour - where you tip at the end. That was great and we had a lovely chap take us round.
We visited a lovely bakery - Sankt Peders Bageri. Best cinnamon bun I’ve ever had.
We went to Torvehallerne food market - that was also really lovely. Had a Smörgåsbord and then coffee and cake at a different stall.
Can you tell food is really important to me ?!
We also went over to Freetown Christiania.
They had a Christmas market with original art for sale. Unfortunately it was raining heavily so I didn’t want to risk buying anything and it getting soaked.
Freetown Christiania was interesting but a little bit unnerving at times. But that may just be me. I’m glad I went.
We visited Tivoli Gardens at night just for the Christmas lights - that was nice and pretty impressive lights.
If we had more time we would have done the Free Walking tour around Christianshavna as our tour guide lived there and I would like to have learnt more about it.
Hope some of my rambling helps 🤣
