Campsite or all inclusive hotel

Hi,

I would like some advice! I have 8 months old, 2 year old and a 5 year old. Would an all inclusive hotel with pool or a euro camp holiday be better?

First holiday
Thanks

Loved Euro camp style holidays when mine were little. We often used to book direct with sites as it was sometimes cheaper if that countries children had returned to school.
Chuck everything in the car plus can take their favourite foods etc
Plenty of snacks for the journey.
Lots of mobile homes have decking with a gate to contain them. Often some sites have a shop you could pre order bread and croissants and Dh would take Dc to collect them.
In the evening put Dc to bed and sit outside with a bottle of wine.

We eurocamp most years and have done since the children were small. My advice is get one with Aircon. The first year we did it we were in a two bed cabin and it was 43 degrees all week. We couldn't sleep or even hang out in the cabin. Also the bedrooms are very small and couldn't fit a cot in so had to co sleep.

That being said, we've had some of the best holidays with eurocamp/yelloh!/canvas holidays. I can highly recommend some if you'd like.

Eurocamp style is fantastic with young kids - good activities and childcare. We like the yelloh chain as well. I second the recommendation to get air-con so that children sleep well.

Agree about air con.
The first year it was boiling hot and with no air con it was a nightmare tbh.
The second year it rained a lot so no need for air con!
If we do it again we'll go to a location with less chance of rain but with air con!

I would second Pierre et Vacances.. we stayed in one in Normandy, ground floor, access to garden with a pool and a gate onto the beach. Mini kids club .. ie a couple of afternoon craft activities and the kids didn't have to go alone. Children were 4, 2 and 3 months at the time. Suited us perfectly.. older 2 in one room.. baby in with us but a separate lounge space for us in the evening.

There’s quite a few child centred small hotels out there that offer a half way between self catered and all inclusive. . One that we loved was Casario Del Mirador. The lady that runs it is amazing, it’s her family home and they have a number of self catering apartments. There’s children’s play areas, loads of toys (our apartment had a play kitchen), a lovely pool, sandpit, chickens and pigs to feed. and they cook up a kids dinner in the kitchen and communal eating area for around 5.30pm and the adults chat and have a beer/wine. Then kids go to bed and an adults dinner is available around 8pm - kids in bed and on the baby monitors (or you can have food at your apartment if you’re not feeling social). We went when DD was 18 months and it was perfect. Kids all make friends and play together. Also near enough to Valencia for the amazing zoo and short distance to lovely beaches.

I would go for a static caravan with very young children. The problem with a hotel is that if one of your LOs wants a nap, you are going to have to go and sit in the hotel room with them in the quiet and the dark, or on the balcony at best. Same if they go to bed early in the evening. Some parents are happy for them to fall asleep in the pushchair but ours would never go to sleep and would get very grumpy.
