Hi, we are thinking about booking all inclusive in Tobago in June. Has anyone been please & can give honest opinion about their experience? I'm very much in 2 minds at the moment

We went a few years ago. We decided NOT to go AI, but ended up eating mostly at our hotel, as there were so few restaurants near us. The hotel was Bacolet Bay, which gets good reviews, but was very tired and not very well maintained when we were there (although the staff were brilliant).

We stayed near Scarborough which was really not very picturesque.

However, the island is very beautiful, and a tour round it (if you haven't hired a car) is delightful.

TBH, whether or not I'd recommend it depends on what kind of holiday you like. It's a quiet, relatively undeveloped island which is quite different from somewhere like, say, Barbados.

It’s a very quiet island. Not really developed. Very beautiful - worth hiring a car and if it still exists then Jemma’s Treehouse Restaurant is worth a visit if you like lobster.

I’m glad I visited there. Wouldn’t go back as I’ve been there, done that.

thank you, I like the fact it is undeveloped & a bit different but some reviews on trip advisor haven't been very good so very much in 2 minds.

I think we'll give it a try as there's some very good deals

Sounds really interesting. Can I ask which website you’re using for travel deals? thanks

British Airways - they have a sale until end of January

I did a two week all inclusive in Tobago and was bored stiff, and had to spend a lot of money doing day trips and boat trips. The hotel food was not good and the hotels and restaurants were generally tired and shabby. The surrounding areas were picturesque but no more than anywhere else I've been.

Just to mention that I think June, July and August are peak rainy season so I wouldn't recommend going then if you want sunshine.

that's a good point, thank you

I’ve been several times as I have family in Trinidad and we normally fly over for a few days when we visit.

It depends what you want from a holiday, it’s a very different island from say Barbados or St. Lucia.

I love it, we always stay in a local SC apartment and eat local foods so I’ve no idea about the big hotels. We generally stay in the Store Bay area but a few times we’ve hired a car to go around the island but I agree there’s not much to do on the island if you’re the type who likes to be out and exploring every day.

We went about 15 years ago. Great hotel and amazing snorkelling in the hotel’s private beach. Don’t drink the rum punch though; it was dodgy alcohol and one of our group ended up in hospital there. The hospital had chickens running around and blood splattered everywhere. No exaggeration!
