What’s a fair travel insurance price for two weeks in Japan?

DH and I have been quoted £55 which seems expensive. Both mid 40s. We’ve had to declare some conditions but absolutely nothing that could cause us to cancel the holiday or become ill out there.

Is that £55 each or for both of you ?

PickledPurplePickle · 03/01/2024 17:11

£55 doesn't seem expensive - Japan is very expensive

Have you looked at annual policies?

kdramaqueen · 03/01/2024 17:12

Would the holiday include a sport such as skiing?

PamelaParis · 03/01/2024 17:12

£55 sounds about right to me, assuming it's per person too. Why would you quibble, it's a fraction of the cost of the overall trip?
It's not just about the risk of becoming ill. If you're caught in an earthquake, for example, you want the best travel insurance available!

Seems cheap, my annual insurance is £85 worldwide inc cruise

SnowsFalling · 03/01/2024 17:54

Have you looked at an annual, worldwide quote to see what that costs?

Tarriance · 03/01/2024 18:19

We paid £55.30 for japan in 2023, couple in mid thirties, 3 weeks

GCAcademic · 03/01/2024 18:20

Seems very reasonable to me.

Dibblydoodahdah · 03/01/2024 18:22

Doesn’t seem expensive to me. My policy is always loaded by at least an additional £10-15 because I have asthma, although I’ve not been hospitalised with it for over 20 years.

Lordofmyflies · 03/01/2024 19:13

Seems cheap. I normally pay about £200 for the family annually.

Takoneko · 03/01/2024 20:45

Does it include natural disaster cover?

Depending on the level of cover that seems very reasonable to me.

Stompythedinosaur · 05/01/2024 00:55

Thats less that I paid. It seems a decent price.

DPotter · 05/01/2024 01:18

£55 - is cheap. In fact I would be checking the coverage.

As a percentage of the overall holiday cost is what - 1%. Tiny.

You'll be paying more for dinner
