Can a 7 month old get travel sick?

Everything I've read on the internet so far seems to suggest that babies shouldn't experience travel sickness until they're two. Took 7 month old DD for longest car journey so far yesterday (50 mins, urban streets) and she was sick at the end of it. She seemed fine beforehand and afterwards - was smiling minutes later so it didn't seem like a bug.

I was terribly car sick as a child but not sure whether it passes on.

Anyone any experience of young babies getting car sick?

Yes they definitely can. DS has suffered from travel sickness since well before he was 2.

You can only get medication for them once they are two though (and it doesn;t work v well for DS)

DS travels wearing a pelican bib and we have towels, kitchen roll etc etc all over the car and keep a lunch box with a lid for puking into. (we have used a bucket and spade bucket in desperation)

I find that a dummy helps a bit, but he pretty much pukes on every car journey.

oh no it's not true..it simply can't be!
dd was always a nightmare in the car. You know when people take their babies out in the car to settle them? ..well dd would just scream and scream with any journey over half an hour. Then when she got older she would just whinge and cry the whole time. She started being sick about 10 months.
At about 18 months i managed to get some syrup from the chemist to give her. Most of the travel sickness medication start from 2 years old.
I recommend 'traveleze' when she is old enough! (we don't go anywhere without it)
It's seems to be more common in females (although ds gets it too) and i still suffer from it even now ..so i guess they must have got it from me.

meant to say...as soon as we started giving her medication ..she was fine in the car.
Idream..have you tried traveleze? You can give it to them the night before you travel (it lasts for 24 hours)...It has the tendency to knock mine out if i give it to them the same day (not always a bad thing)

We got something on prescription which I cannot remmber the name of.... It is a antihistamine / sedative that you give the night before and on the morning of the journey.

I am not 100% convinced that it has any affect at all as DS has been v car sick in a taxi on the way to the airport after I carefully gave him a dose the night before and topped him up inthe morning - so he just puked up pure "travel sickness" medicine.

Will try travel ease. We have just stopped travelling by car as it was so bad!

Thanks very much both - good to know that it is possible that it was travel sickness. I will have to start traveling with a special spew-kit like yours, IDOC.

The rear-facing carseat probably didn't help. I used to use ginger for myself (tho it was never as effective as proper drugs) - but it might be something I could use before she's two.

hiya, my dd used to be car sick from birth up to about 3/4 months old.
seemingly if they eat/drink something sugary it helps.
we started giving our dd a drink of diluted juice 10 mins before we went in the car and it worked.(this was the advice of our health visitor)
