Kids battery toys on planes/security

Due to fly in a couple of days and have ordered a couple of fidget toy type things where lights flash a pattern and you have to repeat it. Not noisy, just light up! However, I'm confused about the security situation. They just take standard AAAs, but do I leave them in the toy through security or take them out and have them separated? The battery compartment has a screw, and obviously I can't take a screwdriver through security!

Just leave them in the toy. When going through security put the toy in the tray out of the bag

When I flew in August, they were only bothered about lithium batteries in toys. We nearly had to leave a lightsabre thing (I say thing as it had a retractable claw thing on the end) in Florida as we didn't know what battery it had inside it.

In the end, they said to see if security will let you pass them with it.

So to answer your question, I'd do what dementedpixie said.

Thanks both! That's what I thought but then I started to doubt myself. Don't want to end up with upset kids at security!
