Disney Hotels

Looking to book Disney Paris for myself, DP and our DS who will be 5.

We're looking at beginning of end of May / beginning of June and wanting to know the best hotels to stay in out of the Cheyenne, Sequoia or if it's worth splashing out for the Nee York hitel (this would be majorly out of price range) but doable.

Any advice would be most welcome! The flights from Newcastle only go via Air France so flight times late AM going out and 10am coming back. Just weighing up the different costs etc.

TIA!

We loved Cheyenne, it's like a cowboy town, have stayed in Santa Fe, Sequoia lodge & New York, & tbh it was still our fav.

jamrolypolyandcustard · 29/12/2023 18:56

Thank you @FannyFifer !!

Santa Fe was my other choice just forgot to list that.

Would you say the walk back was okay from Sequoia?

That's the one I'm more leaning towards.

I've stayed in New York, Sequoia and Santa Fe which I think is similar to Cheyenne? IMO if Sequoia is comfortably in budget then go for Sequoia. It has a nice pool if you want to relax out of the parks for a couple of hours and is easy enough to go back and forth. I think New York is now the Marvel hotel so unless your DS is hugely into Marvel then you might find Sequoia more 'Disney'.

Not sure if Cheyenne is exactly the same but Santa Fe felt like a Travelodge with themed rooms, whereas Sequoia had the lovely lodge style bar and the setting in general just felt more 'authentic'. Or as authentic as a Rocky Mountain hunting lodge on the outskirts of a theme park on the outskirts of Paris can be, anyway Wink

We've stayed in Santa Fe and Newport bay . We got a fantastic deal with Newport bay but the best memories were the Santa Fe maybe as it was our 1st time there . The Newport bay was a very large hotel

Nearly 10 years ago now we stayed at Sequoia and really loved it. We had a baby and two young children with us and the walking was not an issue.

Flamingmentalcats · 29/12/2023 19:10

We liked Cheyenne and the fact it was all small different units rather than one huge hotel. The breakfast was good and staff really nice. The room was spotless. The walk to the park was around 15 minutes for us but we are all adults. We would go back there.
All you need really is somewhere clean as you won't spend long in your room.
Which ever one you choose have a wonderful time

FannyFifer · 29/12/2023 19:11

The walk back was no bother to Sequoia, we did like staying there as it was handy but thought the room we stayed in was dark & dated. Maybe all different now though as was a few years ago. Best bit was we paid extra for Golden Forest so had a quiet breakfast room.
Cheyenne was just more fun generally as our son was also 5 when we went. Got shuttle bus back & forward.
You will have a blast wherever u stay.

I am literally just pricing this up! So pleased I have found your thread to follow 😂

CeeceeBloomingdale · 29/12/2023 19:13

The quality is similar, the main difference is the theme and the distance from the park. We found Cheyenne perfectly walkable with a three year old. We flew from Newcastle too but went with BA via Heathrow as it was cheaper and the times were better

SquashPenguin · 29/12/2023 19:13

Cheyenne is my favourite. Love the Woody and Jesse theming so much 😊

Lordofmyflies · 29/12/2023 19:20

We like the Sequoia. I've stayed at Newport, Cheyenne and Sequoia.
The Cheyenne was a bit of a bun fight for breakfast and the furthest away from the park. The Newport actually the same distance to the park from Sequoia yet more expensive.
I'd recommend a Golden oak room at Sequoia which gives you access to a smaller, private breakfast room, a bigger bedroom and the lounge for free afternoon tea and snacks. We would pop back from the park at about 3pm for afternoon tea and a rest before heading out again in the evening for dinner and fireworks or a show.

We haven't been yet, but researching for next year. YouTube has been great as there's loads of videos of absolutely everything, rooms, food, walk to park entrance etc.

squeekyturkey · 29/12/2023 20:10

I liked Cheyenne as it was motel style and we drove so our car was close to room so we didn't offload everything at once, and could throw stuff into car easily to keep room clear. We did visit the Disney hotel, which was amazing and booked for the following year but Covid hit and then they were renovating so haven't returned.

Everybodysaycheese · 29/12/2023 21:14

We did our first Disney trip with our 5 and 3 years olds a few months ago.

  • we stayed at the Cheyenne and loved it. Theming was great, beds comfy and we walked to and from the park with ease.
  • it doesn't have a pool but personally for us, it would have been just another thing to fit in! We went for 3 nights and had jammed packed days in the parks so a pool for us wasn't a huge deal.
  • another thing to consider, if you want to use extra magic hour (a huge perk of staying onsite) it might not be worth buying daily breakfast at the hotel. We didn't and instead just got crepes and coffees after magic hour each morning. Worked well for us.
  • staying at cheaper hotel allowed us extra money for things such as a one off character breakfast and a princess lunch which for us were worth it.
Happy to answer any questions.
jamrolypolyandcustard · 29/12/2023 21:26

Thank you all so much for your replies!!

A few have mentioned breakfast etc and to be honest my DS would be over the moon with a chocolate crepe or mickey waffle and other exciting bits so a breakfast would be pretty wasted (plus I'd rather get in early for the magic hour)

It's our first Disney holiday (I've been years ago but didn't stay onsite) and I now can't contain my excitement 🤣 DP wandering who's going to be more excited out of me or DS 🤣

Another question for those that have done the Character Dining.

Where abouts should I book (restaurant wise) or should I book at Plaza Gardens Restaurant? I'll set a reminder as we're not going until May but I want to be sure for when it comes to booking up.

Thank you!

We booked direct through Disney and added our character dining (character breakfast at plaza gardens) at the time of booking which I would recommend. If staying onsite you can book your restaurants within 12 months of going and they book up quickly.

We recently stayed at Sequoia Lodge. Super easy walk to the parks, the theming was really lovely in the hotel, and lots of comfy areas to sit and take everything in.

We did the upgrade to Golden Forest, probably wouldn’t have been too fussed but it was a good deal when we booked. I’m glad we did it. We got up early for Magic Hour, then went back to the hotel for late breakfast - having the quiet breakfast room was a real perk compared to what I observed through the doors of the main restaurant! Also had a character meet in the lobby each morning. The other huge perk of the Golden Forest was being able to sit in or take away hot and cold drinks throughout the day - 12pm-10pm I think it was. So after late breakfast we would take a couple of cans/bottles of drinks away for in the park later. We then came back most days for a little bit of afternoon tea, and again would each take a couple of drinks away with us for later on. Obviously we had paid for it as part of our booking, but we felt like we were saving so much money by not having to spend €5 per drink in the park!
