Any suggestions
Where to stay?
What to do?
Where to eat?

He fancies the Eiffel Tower, a riverboat trip, Pomidou centre and Stade de France.

I fancy the Musee D'Orsay, some yummy food and perhaps an hour's shopping.

We are going by Eurostar arriving around noon and leaving the following day around 6pm.

cod did this with her DS1 IIRC - he is younger though, but I bet the same things would appeal.

WendyW - thanks - I'll try and track her down and pick her brain although she's not wearing any make up today so it might be really unpleasant for me

ewww!

And it's not as if you can search for her since she often has 5 or 6 different names in one day

WendyWeber · 16/03/2008 16:33

Bluddy hell, she was just plain cod at one point in that thread!

How lucky was that!

Riverboat trip is good if the weather is lovely but personally I think the tourist bus is just as good if not better - a double decker that goes round all the main sites that you can just hop on and off (you buy a ticket that lets you do this as much as you please).

If you want to shop relatively painslessly with a 12 year old boy, go to Le Bon Marché and La Grande Epicerie.

WendyW - Thanks for Cod's thread - at least I don't have to bother her in person now. I did wonder how exactly to search, wondered if without make-up she was frighnightcod?

Anna888 Will try Hotel Verneuil. It looks lovely. Thanks. Any idea where we might a good dinner close to the hotel - not too expensive but where I can eat something yummy and have a glass or two of good wine and he can eat spag bol or Steack frites without feeling too plebby?

There's a gorgeous restaurant called Bistrot de Paris just around the corner at 33 rue de Lille where you will be able to eat sophisticated French food and he can have steak frites.

No suggestions but green with envy. Have a wonderful time.

Anna8888 · 16/03/2008 16:54

If you decide to go to the Centre Pompidou, try to have lunch in their restaurant (Georges) on the top floor - something for everyone and absolutely stunning cadre and views.

I didn't like the river boat muchcan't get up close to stuff. I liked jumping on and off the metro.

The Cite is good fun if he likes that kind of thing Science museum

Scramble · 17/03/2008 23:15

good views from tour montparnasse The veiws include the eiffel tower.

My DS loved going up the eiffel tower, the lifts and stairs look a bit scarey and exciting.

Swedes · 19/03/2008 12:09

Scramble - thanks v much for that.

Oooh, when are you going, Swedes?

DS (13) and I are off next Monday on Eurostar so if you're going later than that I'll post any recommendations.

We may go to Disneyland on the Tuesday if it's not raining (only thing worse than standing in queues is standing in queues in the rain imo).

There's an Imax cinema at the science museum with a semicircular screeen which sounds good, also we're planning on getting bateaubus tickets to hop on and off along the river.
