Is 10 days long enough?

Is 10 days long enough for a holiday to Mexico? Or should I try to stretch funds to 12 or maybe 14 days?

This is a real treat for is, the holiday is pricey already and it works out to approximately £180 extra per night. So going from 10 to 12 nights is £360 more, then 14 nights is £720 more.

We're travelling with a 2 year old and a 14 year old and would like to do some pool and beach time and some time exploring historical sites and cenotes etc

I think it's doable at 10 nights but would be more relaxed and enjoyable at 14 nights

@sandrapinchedmysandwich I'd really like to do more than 10 too, I keep eyeing up the different deals and I'm wondering whether to bite the bullet and go for 12 maybe.

Do you have any recommendations for things to do see? Hotels which are amazing?

We went for a week and it was good. Day walking food tour and center visit, otherwise pool and cocktails (and kids club!). 10 days will be fine.

@Mumaway thank you! We are specifically looking at a hotel with a kids club for younger children so we can have an hour or two snorkeling and doing a few grown up things while we're there 🤞🏻

We did 14 nights this summer with 2 children. We considered doing 9-10 nights because of the cost but decided to do 14 nights and we’re glad we did. The first few days we were all tired and jetlagged and just wanted to do beach/pool. By going for two weeks we had a few days to recover from the flight then were able to have days out interspersed with relaxing days.

@Imnotarestaurant that's good insight thank you. Can I ask how old your kids are and how you managed the jet lag?

They were 8 and 5. Neither of them really slept on the flight over, but they napped on the coach to the hotel. I think it was about 6pm Mexican time once we got to the hotel, everyone was shattered (and we’d been travelling for almost 24 hours) but we went out to look around the hotel and have some dinner instead of going straight to bed. The first few days were lazy and the kids had naps during the day so it wasn’t too bad.

@Imnotarestaurant thank you. I'm hoping the youngest will have a bit of a nap on the plane and then will have to do extra day time naps while we're there to compensate for the time difference 🤞🏻

14, always!

Eek! We booked it - went for 14 nights in the end and only had to pay an extra £400 instead of £700. I'm thrilled 🤸🏽‍♀️

That’s great-works out at £25 per person per day, definitely worth it

I always go for 14 days minimum when it's a long haul. Otherwise with the flight durations and jet lag, it isn't worth it.
