Devon or Dorset with a toddler?

I am wanting to go on holiday this spring with my busy toddler, who will be 2 years old. Does anyone have suggestions as to which one would be better for this age group? Devon or Dorset? Has anyone got any suggestions of where is good to stay at either of them?

Weymouth in Dorset is a great place for families. Beautiful sandy beach and of course the Jurassic coast line is fabulous to explore. Weymouth has a busy seafront great for families, sea life centre, a fort, a castle, lots of parks including adventure parks. Also close to Lulworth Bay and Durdle door which is a beautiful place to visit. In terms of places to stay, there is a big holiday caravan park and some chain hotels, I think there's a premier inn. There will also be loads of Air bnbs, depending on what you want to do.

The Salcombe area of South Devon. The beaches along the estuary are safe and sandy.

Yes, we've done two great toddler holidays down there. First we stayed in the purbeck peninsula where there are plenty of things to do with toddlers. We did a couple of days at the beach (Studland Bay and durdledoor), he loved toddling around the ruins of Corfe Castle and the nearby model village, farmer Palmers kiddie farm was excellent as was the toddler aimed playground at swanage.

Then we did another trip to Luccombe farmstay, excellent accommodation with playroom, animals and a swimming pool on site.

Both are fab! I love Weymouth and there are two lovely holiday parks on the edge ( we usually camp a couple of miles away). Also love Bridport, West Bay and Lyme Regis. WB has a fabulous playground. Eype beach is lovely and quiet.

Devon - we often stay in Dartmouth and use the boats and little train. The boat up the river to dittisham is lovely. Crabbing off the harbour is great, and you can walk or take the boat to nearby beaches. There is also a heated open air pool - actually there are still lots of these in Devon. Also love Dartmoor, Hope Cove, Blackpool sands and there is just so much choice! We have tended to book air b and bs. North Devon also amazing - more windswept and more big beaches rather than coves. We like illfracombe (the tunnels beaches), Woolacombe and we’ve stayed in a lovely caravan park in Morthoe between the two. I’ve never stayed in Lynton and Lynmouth but great for a day out and the cliff railway is a must.

we don’t tend to do the pricey tourist attractions - we like beaches, woods, moors and playgrounds.

They’re both fab, you can’t really go wrong! I would avoid Torbay though.

Both!
we did the Isle of Purbecks/Swanage 3 times with little ones, steam trains, castle, farm park. Beautiful. Very toddler friendly.

I do like Dartmouth, Sidmouth and Exmouth too though.

Thanks for all the reply’s. We were thinking North Devon or Dorchester area. I think both will be good by the looks of it.
