THOMASLAND

We went to the new Thomasland at Drayton Manor this week and it was fab!

There are about 10 rides - all suitable for under 5s, and an enormous indoor soft play area. DD1 (5) had the best time going on the Troublesome Trucks rollercoaster (and everything else!) DD2 (nearly 1) was in heaven in the soft play.

Definitely worth going to, particularly if you have teenagers who want to explore the rest of Drayton Manor.

Ds is 6, but has Asperger's. He's a huge Thomas fan. Is there an upper age limit on the rides?

DarrellRivers · 14/03/2008 16:49

we were thinking about this
How much was it?
How much time do you need? whole day/1/2 day?
DS would luurve it

I'm pretty sure there isn't an upper age limit as parents can go on all the rides too. There was a class of kids who looked Yr 1 or Yr 2 there when we were there.

The entry ticket is for the whole of Drayton Manor as far as I can see (we went on a freebie as it was the press opening thingy) which is £23 for adults, £19 for over 4s, and free for under 4s.

I'd say half a day, but you could easily spend a whole day if you wanted. I suppose it also depends how busy it is and how long you have to queue - it was very quiet when we went. We were there from 12.00 - 4.00 and that felt fairly short.

woohoo, thank you. i cant wait to take ds. he has been telling everyone daily that he is going to thomasland!

Twinkie1 · 17/03/2008 16:58

Get the big red book from Woolworths - it has a buy one get one free offer in it for Thomas Land!

DarrellRivers · 17/03/2008 17:07

thanks twinkie, that saves £23, wonderful

I thinkyou can use Tesco clubcard vouchers as well

cornsilk · 20/03/2008 18:47

Is it only suitable for under 5's? My ds's fancy it - 7 and 9!

CorrieDale · 20/03/2008 18:48

If you go during Staffordshire term time, you can get a toddler ticket, which admits a toddler and adult for, I think, £14. Brings the price down considerably! (But will also get the Big Red Book!)

We've been to Drayton manor lots of times - pre thomas land. Great rides for bigger kids - roller coasters, water rides etc. There used to be a zoo, and a farmyard which i imagine has been incorporated to thomas land. They always had an avenue of rides for little ones, like a mini pirate boat, and there were never any queues. I imagine this is what has changed to Thomas Land. I use my tesco vouchers.

we took dd to thomasland yesterday, it was great, you pay for one entry into drayton manor and thomas land is situated just inside the entrance. The rides vary in what age group they are suitable for but my dd has just turned 3 and she was ok with 90% of the rides. It is all lovely and new at the moment and because we went early on in the season we didn't have to queue for any ride! we just kept going straight on everything! Sir Topham hat was wondering around all day and we even saw him on the rides at one point!
Tickets at the gate on the day cost £23 adults and £19 child. But if you book the day before on their ticket hotline then adults are only £18 and children £15. Children under 4 go free and there is a toddler and adult combined ticket but its only term time.
I have never liked drayton manor as a theme park and without thomas land it definatly isn't worth the money and the food is terrible around the park so pack up is best! hope this helps someone thinking of going!

CorrieDale · 25/03/2008 16:42

where's the bogof offer in the big red book? I've been through it but can't find it.

kathryn77 · 25/03/2008 20:56

We went to thomas land today, and thought although thomas bit was good, the rest od drayton manor tatty and over priced. food outlets vile.

thomas was ok, ds is 18 months and loved the rides .. although one ride/car thing does go through thomas shop which was cunning!

not sure we will be going back soon!
