We booked to go to Disneyland paris for three nights and were due to travel by Eurostar at 9.20am today.
Our 3 year old (who was absolutely fine all day at preschool) was up all night vomiting and then I was sick also. I got a private GP appointment at 6am this morning who said these bugs tend to last 48hrs and recommended we didn't risk travelling- he has written this in his consultation notes. I cancelled our hotel and transfers which we obviously had to pay in full due to late notice. The eurostar was non refundable.
I have contacted Disney to see if we can transfer our park passes to another date.
We have insurance through Eurostar (Allianz) and have submitted a claim. I cant speak to anyone at Allianz as they are closed over the weekend.
Does anyone with a better understanding of insurance know if we are likely to get our money back? I have attached the wording from our policy but I cant tell if it is saying you have to be hospitalised in order to be able to claim..
I know its a first world problem but this holiday cost us £2.5k, was our daughters first holiday abroad and to say we are gutted is an understatement.
Thanks

Phone them so you can obtain the evidence they require

They are closed over the weekend unfortunately but will be calling on Monday.

I’d that that you are covered in your circs as dr had told you to cancel. The but about hospitalisation refers to cancelling for non-travelling people’s illness (ie it has to be a serious illness in a relative to justify cancelling).

Ahh I see, thank you I hope so, never had to cancel a holiday before so I'm a bit clueless!

We had a very similar situation when we were supposed to go on holiday to Spain and the children both came down with vomiting bugs. The insurance paid out really quickly for the flights, the hire car took longer as it would not confirm whether or not they would have refunded rather than use insurances. Eventually all money came back

Thank you. Glad you were able to get your money back. I think we will be sticking to UK caravan breaks until both girls have a better immune system!

You also need to do anything you can to limit the loss ie. See if any of the hotel is cancellable such as a third night if 48 hours, or you can transfer the trip to another date
