BA Business Class

When you take a child over 2 years old business class on BA, is the seat charged at full price or is there a child price? I've spoken to two people on the phone and they don't know!

Would be grateful for anyone with experience

Just price up a pretend trip on the ba website and it’ll tell you the price

Same price as a normal seat. I flew my 22-month-old BA Business yesterday. It was fine. They can't sit right next to you as there's a space where the seat would be, which holds drinks/food/etc. The food was alright. It wasn't worth it for him, but corporate booked my flight and that was the best value one home 🤷‍♀️

It's a bit more stressful than flying economy, as people "expect" better service given they've paid more. The lady closest to us was lovely about my toddler, to be fair, but spent the whole flight complaining about the prosecco being off/the air hostess spending more time chatting to someone else over here/etc. She winked at us and said she was going to get some money back, but it was an odd experience! There was a lot of people trying to sleep/relax, too. I think 70% of our flight was going for connecting flights, so had booked business to sleep even though it was early afternoon.

That sounds like Economy plus not Business.

I think it sounds like Club Europe, so short not long hall business class, if the middle seat is blocked with the table thing

Thanks. Feel silly for not doing this before! It's 75% of the price. Insane for a 2 year old but get it from a business perspective

The ticket says business! But maybe we got screwed over 😁

Definitely wasn’t Club Europe, we walked through that.

It was a really old plane. No WiFi; no working card machine (not that we needed it; but they announced it over the tannoy)

staycaysandvacays · 30/11/2023 19:38

@YouveGotAFastCar where were you going/coming from?

Something to consider is the distance between you and your child when in business class. In Economy and Economy+ it is almost like sitting on a sofa with your neighbours right next to you in touching distance, no real barriers. The Business set-up entirely separates the seats, presuming that you may not know and want to be close to those happening to sit by you. This may be a disadvantage with a toddler, you cannot very easily touch, comfort, cuddle, or even see them, mealtimes might be more difficult as would keeping them entertained and quiet and perhaps plugged into their seat, as you are physically blocked much more.

(I have only travelled long haul with BA business, so Club World not Club Europe, and I don't know the seating set-up for shorter flights.)

If you walked though Club Europe, which is BAs short haul business class, then you get to economy. There’s nothing in between. So I’m confused…

On a long haul flight you might walk through Club World (long haul business class) before getting to Premium Economy and then Economy, but that depends (a) on the plane type and (b) what jet bridge the airport has and which door they board from.

Children under 2 pay 10% if they are on your lap.

2-11 pay 75%. If you want a seat for an under 2, they cost 75%.

@YouveGotAFastCar surely the best value would have been the 10% and have him on your lap! Though as above he would have cost 75% for the seat.

Definitely sounds like you flew Club Europe though - that's the only configuration where you would have had 3 seats in a row with the middle blocked off for a tray. Club World (and First) have individual seating that goes flat. You won't have walked through Club Europe to another class, there is no higher class in Europe.

Pretty sure BA tickets don't say "business - they say the class, Club Europe, Club World, First etc. All the boarding passes in my apple wallet do.
