what do you mean by good restaurant? As in v Spanish and cheap or more international...

Hi Orangeknickers (great name!) ... we're off TOMORROW first thing , so any thoughts today would be appreciated. We'd prefer Spanish or anything different to the Chinese/Italian/Indian we'd get at home. We will eat out most nights. Happy to pay more for good food but happy to hear about cheap and cheerful also, we usually do a mix of costs. Our apartments is 5 mins walk from the marina, not been before so no idea what that means!! Thanks for the website link - looks lovely, will have a good read once I've finished packing.

oooh we might see you there - we go on sunday . staying just outside....
I am so hoping for fine weather and resturants that are open at 6-8pm so we can all have dinner out together in the evening!!

lilolilmanchester · 24/03/2008 21:27

fingers crossed for the weather! We'll be about to come back as you arrive, hope you have fun and let's compare notes on return!

sorry to have missed you.

The place we go to for yummy Spanish food is called Gitillanes (?) on Calle Caridad. It is rustic, but the food is delish - try the aubergine with honey - yum!

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 25/03/2008 20:52

oooh but you haven't missed me - thank you for that.

what time are restuarants open usually? We're reluctant to go 'spanish time' with DD as it will take ages to unravel once we get back home!

OrangeKnickers · 25/03/2008 21:37

Estepona seems very mixed so the English eat at 8pm + then the Spanish come in afterwards.... also for good, salty Spanish food with no vegetables then try Bar La Palma on Calle Terraza (?) near a main square

here

and Hacho on Calles de los Reyes is a very nice winebar with nice tapas.

Lulumama · 25/03/2008 21:47

Chinales
Calle del Pozo

is excellent for seafood

Fabulous ideas thank you - the more the merrier!

Do we just need to resign ourselves to DD going to bed 3 hours later than normal and then try and deal with it when we get home again?

OrangeKnickers · 26/03/2008 16:59

how old is your dd?

I would spilt the difference so you already get a "free" hour as Spain is ahead, so eat say half and hour later. That way you are eating a bit later but it won't be too bad when you get home. We saw loads of little kids in buggies out at 11pm but I think that maybe a step too far!

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 26/03/2008 19:37

She's 15 months and normally eats at 5:30 and goes to bed at 6:30pm....

We went to france last year for the weekend and she stayed up happily until 9pm after an afternoon siesta but then she slept really badly at night - it was nightmare actually.
