Are they worth it...?

Im flying in a couple of weeks (just me and DP) amd looking at possibly booking airport lounge for before, but trying to figure out if the cost is worth it...! Are they as fancy as im imagining?

Its a morning flight we are in, but would probably be having a few drinks (time has no meaning in the airport...!) And some breakfast.

Is the cost worth it?

Which airport?

Newcastle. Its an aspire lounge so by the sounds of it, probably not worth it...

I've just tried to book a lounge for our feb holiday at Manchester and they're sold out. Annoyed because I'd booked the transfer to be there in time!

Have used the BA lounges at Gatwick and Heathrow Terminal 5. Both were good. Had free access to the lounge at MCO Terminal C (that other people could also pay for) it was very busy and the food was rubbish. Alcohol was extra and there were also other meals that you could pay for. Not really worth it if it wasn't free, especially as there were plenty of free, comfortable seats in the departure areas.

The aspire lounge in Newcastle is definitely not worth it, probably the worst lounge I’ve been in. It was just about worth it with free lounge passes (but even then we left and had a wander round to get some natural light).

It depends on how much you are going to eat and drink in the airport. Last year in Luton we went for a drink in the bar and a glass of wine was nearly £10! So if you're going to have a couple and buy something to eat as well, then it can easily be worth it. The quality of food can vary between lounges though. One we went to in Birmingham years ago served full complimentary meals, others just do snacks. We often book a lounge if the flight is in the evening and relax there with a couple of drinks each and some food. But if it's a morning flight and we'll just be having a cup of tea we don't bother.

Definitely not fancy! Just a nice calm area with sofas and tables with chairs an area with a bar and a small buffet area! They let kids in some of them do really aren’t fancy! I like to book them as it keeps the children calm and they can eat and drink all they want rather that buying crap In duty free!
