Just that - I see a lot of options on Amazon. Can't find a suitable thread so apologise!

Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

You can buy these blow up square cushions that go between the toddler’s seat and the seat in front and means they can lie flat on an economy seat. However, is v crew dependent if you’re allowed to use it. I would only use it if your family has a row to themselves or the toddler has the window seat ( so you’re not blocking another passenger’s exit from the row) and only inflate once lights are off.

How young? I tend to think toddlers don’t need them as they can fit on the seat. It’s older kids who can’t curl up on the seat, but also whose feet don’t touch the floor, that really benefit from them.

If you want to get something Id suggest the best thing to do is start with the airline - find out what they allow. Also they’ll only allow them in certain seats, so make sure you have one of them.

We used the inflatable cubes on a 14 hour flight with our then 18 month old and 4 yo. We had a row of 3 seats, toddler in the window, me in the middle, 4 yo on the aisle. Cabin crew seemed grateful I was trying my best to keep the kids quiet and happy, the cubes weren't mentioned... I have heard of people being asked to deflate them but only when other passengers exit routes were being restricted?

The toddler lay flat, half on the seat and half on the cube, and I wedged pillows and blankets to cushion him from the wall - he slept really well. The 4 yo just used it as a comfy foot rest but slept noticeably better with it than without it.

Apart from that I downloaded lots of nice relaxing CBeebies shows onto the tablets and had a gazillion snacks and drink options stashed around my person! Wish you best of luck.

Can someone share a link to those cubes please? We'll have the full window row to us. My DS is 2 years and 8 months old but on 9th percentile so smaller than most kids of his age.

Most airlines won’t allow the use of these. Who are you flying with?

Vistara. It's an Indian airline

These aren't the specific ones we bought but same principle:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Inflatable-Airplane-Available-Adjustable-Toddlers/dp/B07DQBY83F/ref=asc_df_B07DQBY83F/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=535032254533&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16297858678271158301&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006739&hvtargid=pla-486805435624&psc=1&mcid=0e445201cbe236f888780e8c0ffb9f23

In my experience using these, as long as you're not on an exit row or generally causing inconvenience then the cabin crew would prefer you use them and the kids are happy, than having screaming overtired kids!!

But we did also usually wait until the meal service was over and the lights were turned off - so not as soon as we got on board.

Wish you a good flight OP!

I flew that far with a small 2 year old recently and they just slept laid on the seat with head on our lap, was fine. I needed for floor space and seat pocket for all the crap to entertain them so wouldn't have wanted a blow up bed in the way.
