Hi, we are looking for a campsite South West France or Catalonia for next summer and are overwhelmed with the choice. We have been to these in Brittany, the Vendée and the Atlantic islands before but this is a new area for us. We haven't decided between tent or chalet yet. Criteria are:

Walking distance to a beach
Languedoc (west) or Catalan country (we're heading to the mountains after)
Kids club with some English spoken for our 6 year old
Pool with slides etc

Nice to have would be walking distance to a town for meals out and some interesting options for days out.

We have been recommended La Serignan plage but it's at the higher end of the budget

Les Sablons is one of the few good campsites along that stretch of coast within easy walk of both restaurants and a supermarket. It’s also big enough to have several English speaking staff.

We went to La Chapelle in argeles Sur mer. Flew to Perpignan with budget airline and had car free week. It was great, and they have even had a pool refurb so should be even better now. Eurocamp kids club. Few minutes walk to beach, plenty of reasonably priced food and supermarket options

We were at Mar Estang (Siblu) this summer, and really enjoyed it.
From gate to beach: 50m
DC joined kids club some days, majority was French speaking but the animators spoke English and translated for DC and made sure they were included.
There is a little tourist 'train' that stops at the site entrance and takes you to town centre with lots to do and shops, including a nice aquarium and boat rentals, boat day trips etc.
But you can also walk to town centre along seafront in about 30 minutes.
Decent on-site shopping too.
Nice nature reserve adjoining the site, excellent for walks and bird watching if you get bored of the beach.
For us it worked out about half the price of Sérignan plage.

La Sirene in Argeles is a brilliant site and they have a train bus which goes to the town/ beach and back. It's a 20 minutes walk otherwise, but despite being very flat it's always incredibly hot and debilitating.

Argeles is a mainly tourist town, so most of the sites are very good.
