How long for Disney World?

I'm looking at taking DD to Disney world next year.

How long would I need to be there for really? She'll be 7 and I'm not sure I can hack 14 days! I'd likely stay at a site hotel as opposed to off site. It will just be me and DD

We always go for two weeks as there's so much to see and do.
Plus, You don't have to rush around like you would if you only have a week.

I like 10 days for a holiday. A week is too short, 14 days can seem a bit too long.

You can never spend too long at Disney World.

Forgottenmyphone · 28/10/2023 18:40

A day for each park, plus a ‘rest’ day in the middle and an extra day to re-do your favourite park at the end. If you want to do the water parks, that’s 8 days. Add another two days if you want to do Universal.

Thanks all!

Looks like 10 days might be a winner

the ticket you’re likely to buy will be a 14 day ticket, we go for that long minimum to make the most out of that.

13 nights… there is so much more to Florida than Disneyworld. Airboat rides, NASA, rodeos, celebration, universal :) have a blast

TeenDivided · 28/10/2023 18:56

I'd do a 7 day Disney ticket and then a 3 day universal or something like that.

This is the plan I think I'll go by I think.

If you’re staying onsite, remember you can have pool days and your ticket will also include water park access. 14 will pass in the blink of an eye. You don’t have to go to the parks all day every day. With a bit of planning, extra magic hours etc you can split your days so they aren’t full on.

Jessforless · 29/10/2023 08:52

A 7 day Disney ticket is basically the cost of a 14 day one though, have a look but the difference is nothing. That’s how they get ya ;)

14 days is the best value for Florida really, but if you're not fussed on Universal you can easily get Disney done in 10 days with some slower days built in. If doing Universal I would definitely recommend doing 14 days, and getting express passes so you can get a fair bit done more easily. I don't normally holiday for more than 10 days but Florida has always been the exception, due to the flight and ticket prices 2 weeks just makes sense.

Thing is, except for spending money, this will likely cost the same as 14 days but will be rushed or miss things.

14 days was perfect when I went with a friend last October. We stayed 10 nights at Disney (actually 9 as we went to Clearwater and stayed for a night there) and 4 nights at a Universal Premier resort so we had Express Passes.

There were still things we didn't get to do. I think a week or even 10 days would be too rushed. But that's personal preference based on my own experience.

Bunnycat101 · 30/10/2023 13:46

I think 14 days as well - at 7 she won’t get as much out of universal unless she’s a mega Harry Potter fan. but if you do, people seem to suggest it’s worth staying on site for the fast passes.

When I started planning I thought I’d want to stay on site but the benefits seem less good now than they used to be and lots of the hotels seem pretty rubbish for the price. I think there is more value in looking at the Disney partner hotels that still benefit from early hours, dining reservations and reasonable transport. If you’re looking offsite be really careful re transport. Some of the shuttles aren’t very frequent and car hire has got pretty pricey.

HermioneWeasley · 30/10/2023 19:10

I’d do 14 days in Orlando - flights and park tickets are expensive so might as well go for as long as you can. I’d do 10 days at Disney and a few days at other parks or attractions.
