Center Parcs Sherwood Forest - Day Visitor

Hi all

I need some advice regarding Centre Parcs.

We have a lodge booked for 2 adults and 2 children.

I have asked my sister if she would like to come and visit and spend some time with the kids, she is keen to do this, and we are keen to have her.

Ideally, she would come, stay for one night, and then leave.

I have been in touch with Centre Parcs and they tell me that as my lodge is only for 4, I would need to move for her to be able to stay the night. This is not possible for us and we would like to stay where we are.

We are happy for her to stay with us with the space we have available. She can sleep with one of the kids (she has done this often). Does anyone know whether we can make this work? She is of course more than happy to pay to come in to the resort, we are not trying to get out of paying here, we just do not want to move accommodation.

Any advice or tips that can help us make this happen are most welcome.

Thank you.

You can’t. Center Parcs have explained to you what the capacity is for the lodge you’ve booked and your own family maxes it out. If you want your sister
to come you need to book larger accommodation and put them on the booking. Day visitors are not permitted to stay overnight, only those officially on the booking for the lodge.

Thanks for your response.

If we do find a lodge with a space, can a visitor be added for one night, or do they need to be there for the duration of the stay?

They get added for the full week but can arrive and leave at any point during the stay so can come for just 24hrs or leave and come back. Once they are on the booking it’s up to them how long they stay.

Basically you book a bigger lodge for the duration of the holiday and she can stay as many or few nights as she chooses.
Or you can keep your current lodge and she can visit for the day.

Some great tips. Thanks all. I did check the website but I wasn't sure on the detail.

So she can come in the morning and leave in the evening. Presumably there are stringent checks carried out at entry point?

£41.50 for a day pass from 10am until midnight, which only includes free swimming. That's a lot of money for a day together where you're turfed out at the end.
On an old thread, a mumsnetter said they had had a day guest and had to collect them from the arrivals lodge. The guest had to sign in and later sign out. As reception have your villa details, if guest doesn't leave then I guess they could be knocking on your door/charging you £.

Yes it is a lot of money, but she is willing to pay it to spend time together. However, I'm not sure it's going to work out if she cannot stay at least one night. This is sad, but moving is not at option. It is too expensive to move, but more importantly, we are in the place we want to be as there are 6 families going together, and we do not want to separate from the group.

Update: we managed to sort this out and add my sister to the booking for our lodge (which now sleeps up to 6). Thanks everyone for your help.

Now need to finish packing. Oh, what to take? :)

@RockGirl I’m having the same issue. For us to upgrade from a 4 bed to a 6 bed so my sibling can stay 1 night is another grand. Did they give you any kind of discount for them just staying a night or did you have to suck it up?

Book them a day pass then a premier inn etc down the road?

@fashionqueen0123 that’s the back up plan 😊

Probably a lot cheaper :) they don’t do discounts for staying less nights so if that’s your back up plan I’d just get the premier inn booked!
