Anyone else going to Disneyland Paris or France over half term

We are due to be travelling to DLP over half term via Eurostar and trains with my children and parents , but can't help feeling anxious regarding recent terror threats in France .
Just wanted to know if anyone else was going away over half term to the same place , I know the chances of something happening are just as high as it happening in the UK but it doesn't stop my mind and my anxiety taking over .

Hey, we're due to travel to disney in November with 3 kids. We're flying from Belfast but also very anxious and considering cancelling. My hubby thinks we will be fine but I can't help being afraid we might get caught up in something.

Disneyland itself has searches and security and feels very safe. And the train goes right there.
I'm going in November as well. I'm more worried about bedbugs on the train tbh.

We are going to Disneyland Paris , not concerned at all about terrorism but we were also at DLP when France had some terrorist attacks a few years back . I don’t allow ‘what ifs’ to rule my life .

Your chances of coming to actual harm are tiny, but your chances of having your travel disrupted by a security alert are unusually high unfortunately.

Plan accordingly: make sure your phones are always fully charged, you have data for France and you've got you travel insurance details with you.

Going in November too and worried about bed bugs. Ive heard a lot about putting suitcases in the Bath when you get to the hotel and leaving suitcase outside when you come home and washibg everything at 60 degrees. It's hard to know what to do.

Family member returned yesterday. Very safe. Armed police, all ran smoothly, no problems with Eurostar

Overmylimit · 19/10/2023 21:43

I'm going in November. I've been reading a lot about the bed bugs situation but a lot of reports are saying that it's the media over exaggerating the situation! Either way I'll be keeping luggage up high!

Not Disney but France. I've been looking forward to it for so long and now dreading it, canceled flights, bed bugs, security issues.. Wet weather.

We re due to stay in Paris for 5 days from 30th Oct. Feeling uneasy too although logically risk of coming to harm are more likely in the car ride to airport than a terrorist attack.

We’re going by Eurostar for 5 nights on Sunday. Visiting DLP and central Paris. I grew up in a military family so tend to be fairly relaxed having grown up areas that were targets for terrorism where bomb scares were an everyday event. We live near a military base that is a target now as well. Our 13 year old was on a school trip to Paris during the riots in the summer, biggest problem was traffic jams. We’ll still go and be vigilant but not let it spoil our visit. There’s always risks from terrorism, if anything I think the risk is greater when the authorities are more relaxed and not expecting trouble.

As a French resident that would be my take on it...

There's been a very obvious military presence (Gendarme plus members of other branches of the armed forces) around the major transport hubs here such as stations and airports for quite some time now and the numbers on patrol went up again last week in the wake of the killing of the teacher in Arras.

Rumours are it's not doing wonders for recruiting - the adverts seemingly didn't mention "join the army and see Orly airport......."

With the threat level being so high and everyone on top alert I bet it’s the safest time to travel to Paris! I’d be more worried about bed bugs!😬
