Unable to book seats together on EasyJet

Hi there,

we are due to fly in a few days with easyJet. Family of 4 with a 3yo and 6yo.

when I checked in online there were no seats left together. So currently we are all sat in various different rows. With the kids completely on their own and many rows between us all.

I know I should have checked in as soon as check in opens, but I work 2/3 jobs, the kids have been sick and it’s been crazy.

when I did try and check in early all the seats were gone.

I called easy jet and they said we will have to speak to cabin crew on the day.

does anyone have experience of this? What are the chances that ppl will swap? I’m not expecting all 4 of us to be together, just one child with an adult each. Which is what we have on the flight back.

no judgment or unpleasant comments please. I’m stressed and annoyed enough as it is.

@BarbieKew its rude as you presume they are able to move. There are many reasons why people need to sit next to a companion.. disability, looking after their own child, elderly, fear of flying etc.

People don't need a reason. They booked the seats they wanted because they wanted them. No one needs an excuse not to move for people that can't organise their own seats properly.

It is not rude to offer to swap with the poor sod who’s got a random toddler next to them. It would be rude to demand they move, but how can it be rude to politely offer. It’d be ruder to not offer.

Jeez, some of you are so uptight.

But you’re not ‘offering to swap’ are you? You’re asking if they’ll swap as you don’t want your child to sit next to them. Which is fair enough. But don’t try to spin it that you’re doing the other passenger a big favour.

People on flights can be pretty understanding, especially with kids involved. Chances are, someone will be willing to swap seats to keep your family together. Just be polite and ask the cabin crew for assistance when you board.

Exactly this.

And I have to say that if I had BarbieKew making comments to me about “happy to swap seats or you can look after my toddler” or words to that effect, I would politely but firmly direct her elsewhere.

just a reminder of my original post. No judgment or unpleasant comments please. Very stressed, had a lot on. We all drop balls every now and then. Don’t need the obvious stating.

While I completely get your request, you refer to the situation as ‘unlucky’ - it’s nothing to do with luck, it’s poor planning.

I’m sure it’ll get sorted on the day though. 🙂

You often have to pay extra to choose your seat, so if someone does move for you, the least you can do is buy them a drink.

If i was flying solo, i would swap in an instant as long as the seat wasn't in the middle!

But if i am flying with my DC, obv i wouldn't be able to swap. Hope that its not full of families but usually there are lots of couples or single people flying. I would ask the crew to announce you'll buy whoever swaps a sandwich and a drink as thanks. I'm sure you'll get offers! Good luck.
