Soho to Harry Potter studios

Planning on taking my daughter to London, never been in my life. We are staying in Soho and going to harry potter studios

Is it worth getting the ticket with transfer added? Or what is the best way? And what's it likely to cost? Daughter is 10 and a good traveller

Bus:

No73 bus from outside Uniqlo on Oxford St to Euston Station. Fast train (NOT London Overground) to Watford Junction (between 15-22 mins). Exit station, get on very visible HP bus from station forecourt.

Tube:

Get Victoria Line northbound from Oxford Circus to Euston. Continue as above.

Get the tube to Euston from Oxford Circus (Victoria line). Then get a train from Watford junction and there's a free shuttle bus from there to the studios.

I don't know what the transfer is but I'd check train fares and compare.

If you're staying in soho make sure you check out the Mina Lima shop - they did a lot of the artwork. Lovely place!

Boogiewoogieanddance · 29/09/2023 10:26

@TeaMeBasil we have that on the list. Dd collects the books, they are amazing.

Also if anyone has decent places to eat that don't cost alot recommendations ate welcomed :)

Another question.. cause I can't future it out on the website.

If I get a visitor oyster card and I use it for all transport? Bar taxis. But for that whole journey with the underground and fast train could I just top up one card?

Don't get an Oyster card. Use your phone or a debit card to go through barriers. Your daughter travels free - just go through the luggage gates with her in front.
Fares are capped to a max per day.

Ah I would never have known that.. thanks! Will deffo just take public transport. Would have been near £100 for transfers 😨

Bistro 1 in Soho would be perfect - my kids love that place! It's just cheap and cheerful Mediterranean food but they loved it when the waiters brought unasked-for olives 😁

underneaththeash · 30/09/2023 00:26

Sticks and Sushi in Covent garden have a very good value kids meal, adult set menu is also good (you need to book).

Needmorelego · 30/09/2023 00:34

Where on earth did you get that £100 ticket price from? The tube will cost less than a fiver if you are just going Soho to Euston (and back later on). I don't know the exact price to Watford from Euston but I can't imagine it would be much more than £20 or so for the 2 of you.

Needmorelego · 30/09/2023 00:38

I checked - £20.70 for 1 adult, 1 child day return to Watford Junction from Euston.

Boogiewoogieanddance · 30/09/2023 07:36

If I was to buy the harry potter tickets and transfer tickets from the website with the bus.. its £50 extra each

I assumed public transport would be cheaper but wasn't sure how straight forward :)

Needmorelego · 30/09/2023 08:11

@Boogiewoogieanddance it's really easy by public transport. One train from Euston to Watford Junction (and then the shuttle bus).
Just check before that there's no train strikes on the day you want to go.

HellHound · 30/09/2023 08:49

You'll have an amazing time. Make sure you book your tickets as soon as possible as it sells out months in advance.

Boogiewoogieanddance · 30/09/2023 09:14

I had no idea!! I just checked and its sold out for the date we are there.. ahhh. We have tickets to the theater, flights and accommodation booked but this was the main reason I wanted to go.. gutted

Cutter and squidge bakery in soho does a wizard of high tea. It’s phenomenal.

LIZS · 30/09/2023 09:26

They often release further tickets sp worth keeping checking. Or you may find a package.

Rocknrollstar · 30/09/2023 09:35

https://www.wbstudiotour.co.uk/getting-here/

this gives the links to travel including the bus direct from Central London.
If you can’t get tickets you can at least visit the platform 9 1/2 at Kings Cross Station and have photos taken.

Getting to Warner Bros. Studio Tour London

Find out where to park, how to get here, where to drop off and train stations. See how you can get here from Euston or Watford Juction.

Boogiewoogieanddance · 30/09/2023 10:08

Thankyou,

It says they release tickets the day of or day before so wouldn't want to risk not getting them. I found a package with a tour of Oxford and then the studios so have booked that. Not expensive but it's our whole day bar food and will be nice to see around xx

I travel on that train line and while you’ve now booked, OP, in case anyone else is reading - to answer your question upthread about whether you can use Oyster cards/contactless all the way to Watford - yes, you can. Watford is the last station where they’re valid, but you wouldn’t be travelling beyond there by train so it’s fine. The bus to the studios from Watford is free as it’s part of the studio ticket price.

As another general observation, don’t forget to use any railcards you may have for the trip to Watford and back if you do buy tickets. Every little helps ☺️

Havanananana · 01/10/2023 10:06

Be careful - Watford has several railway stations. The one you want is Watford Junction (on the main line from Euston) and not Watford (on the Underground)

The direct bus from Central London that is promoted on the WB Studio homepage really does cost an arm and a leg. It is far cheaper, and very easy, to take the train from Euston to Watford Junction and then take the special Harry Potter shuttle bus from there.

Brasserie zedel is a lovely place to eat OP and reasonably priced, especially for their fixed price menu or plat du jour. you'll need to book a table though.
