Eurocamp - fly from Scotland

Looking for recommendations for eurocamp type holidays that we can fly to direct from Scotland? Kids are primary school aged, and need to have plenty to keep them busy!

This thread is a little old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you've landed here looking for eurocamp holiday recommendations, we've recently updated our best eurocamp sites page with lots of great options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. 💐

Which airport would you be flying from? You could fly to Beziers or Reus/Barcelona, lots of parcs to choose from around there. As a starting point, Cambrils and Sanguli are very popular large sites with lots to do but of course there are loads of alternatives to suit your family's needs. The search on the Eurocamp website is pretty good with lots of filters, there's even an option to search for sites near an airport which may help narrow down the search.

Or consider the ferry from Newcastle or Hull depending on where in Scotland you are and choose a site in northern Europe like Beekes Bergen or Duinrell with loads to do (or fly to Amsterdam or Eindhoven). Take a look at Little Clogs Holidays for lots of recommendations in Netherlands/Belgium.

You could also look at Allcamps, Roan, Homair, Yelloh, Cap Fun, Landal, European Center Parcs etc. You can also often book with a site you like directly to sometimes get better accommodation or cheaper pricing.

We have flown mainly from Edinburgh but I think one year we went from Prestwick. We have been to a variety of sites through Eurocamp: St Avit Loisirs (fly to Bordeaux or Bergerac); Bella Italia (Milan); Norcenni Girasole (Pisa or Florence). All brilliant for pools and fun for young kids. St Avit is smaller and has a cozier feel, the 2 Italian sites are really big and have more facilities but might take a bit of getting used to if you’re new to those kinds of sites.
I’m sad our DD is now too old for this sort of holiday, I miss it already!

Did you hire a car when you arrived or can you travel to the campsites by public transport? Is a car preferable for sightseeing / grocery shopping?

@JamMakingWannaBe we always hire a car, but you can filter on Eurocamp website for car free sites

Hello, I know this post is from 2023 but I just wondered if you ever chose somewhere to go? We are east coast Scotland, so looking for some eurocamp options abroad that we could fly from Edinburgh also. We went to Beekse Bergen in The Netherland this summer (fab btw) and got the overnight ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam but I would be keen to fly next year and rent a car if needed.
