Hi, we’re taking DD3 on our first sunshine holiday together shortly.
She goes to preschool, did nursery from 2 and stays with DM overnight regularly so I don’t exactly have an anxiety about leaving her with others for a little bit but it does take me a moment to get comfortable with the idea, especially people I don’t know. DP is the same.

If you’ve been and left your kids in the miniclub, how did you find it? Were you comfortable with the staff and safety?

Thank you x

Hi, sorry I'm following along here in case you get some useful replies as we are dithering about booking this too for next summer!

All the reviews I can find seem very positive about the kids clubs and apparently you can stay with your kids too if you don't want to immediately leave them.

Zebrasinpyjamas · 24/09/2023 22:43

We have been twice and the kids club is great. Many staff were there for both visits. Lovely friendly staff who really look like they enjoy their job.

They ring you if the children have had enough of being in there so they can dip in and out as they want. I didn't have any safety concerns. Staff speak a few languages so can communicate with most children there. Some parents stay and some don't. It's pretty relaxed in that sense. the children who are unaccompanied wear a high viz vest so the staff know who they are looking after. It runs every morning and then again from about 3.30 to 6pm.ish.

dd3 did colouring , played games, bouncy castle, did a water fight and probably more in there.

Thank you @Zebrasinpyjamas thats really good to hear! Great that they’re so relaxed about staying or going and that they call if the kids had enough. Feel much better about it and really looking forward to it. Thank you for sharing.

@TheSnailAndTheWaaaail happy to update after we’ve been and let you know how we get on. But same, everything I’ve heard so far is quite positive, ended up choosing it as I saw it recommended on here.

I’ve also just found out they have an app where you can see the full schedule and book things through etc. Looks really good.

@HolyMolyOly I would really appreciate that, thank you! I find it so stressful trying to pick somewhere for a holiday that means we as parents also feel like we've had a short break too 😩😂

Waldenistia · 25/09/2023 11:08

We didn't use the club but went in after the sessions and used the kit. The hotel was great for little ones. Its a walk on boardwalks to the beach so take a big bag so you can carry everything easily. We went this time a few years ago and got quite a lot of rain in the evening so pack a brolly to get to dinner!

Also following and looking forward to the update after your visit! We booked to go next summer with our toddler and a new baby by then x

Hi @TheSnailAndTheWaaaail and @JMGSinging thought I would come back and update in case you were still thinking about it or if anyone lands on this thread looking for info on this. Do it!! I was just reminded to come back as we’ve just re-booked to go after Easter (last year we can travel outside school holidays 😅).

Royal Son Bou was an absolute dream, exactly what we needed. Not fancy, some parts of the room/resort looked a little dated (just being honest) but it honestly did not matter one bit. The kids club was awesome. We didn’t end up leaving the little one but instead went and stayed with her (she was going through a bit of a phase and uncertain about leaving her with people she didn’t know) but both said next time around and a little bit older (she’ll be almost 4 next time) we would feel quite comfortable for her to stay for a bit. The staff were lovely, energetic, engaged with the kids and had plenty of activities going on. She still talks about meeting Kiko the duck.

the hotel itself was very much geared towards kids and they had all sorts of spare things like a night light and a potty we could borrow at no extra cost. It made life a little easier.
the restaurants were nice and they had so much food choice including a specific area for kids food that was low enough for her to choose and plate up herself (with help!), booster seats at most tables. It helped with her eating to be honest and also she was happy to be and stay at the table for us to have a chance to eat too without too much shift-taking. One of the restaurants you can watch the sunset at dinner, the restaurant staff started to recognise us after a bit and say hello to us which made us feel really welcome, such lovely memories.

It’s so close to the beach that after the first time of lugging a bunch of stuff to have a ‘beach day’ we opted for quick trips for a dip and a play in the sand instead.

The kids disco was brilliant and LO looked forward to it every time, knew most of the songs and dances by the end of the hols and was totally knackered and ready for bed by the time we got to the room.

Each block has its own animal so she knew where we ‘lived’ when we were there and again something she still talks about.

All in all, so glad we went and I have a fellow MNer to thank for discovering it as it was recommend on here.

We’ve had some challenging times in 3 years as first time parents but this holiday was not one! The only change I’d make is making the most of all the luggage allowance and not trying to pack light 😂

I know there are much fancier resorts to go to but this was great value and we had the best time. 10/10 would recommend.

@HolyMolyOly

Thanks so much for getting back to me, we have actually booked it and are going in July! So glad you enjoyed it and had a positive experience. We will have a 5 year old and an almost 2 year old so hoping they will make a bit of use of the kids club!

TheBeeb · 02/01/2024 10:17

One question if you don't mind - did your child use the sofa bed? Or did you have a 2 bed apartment? I read that the travel cot has a 10kg weight limit and our youngest is already heavier than that, so wondering if he could sleep on the pull out bed along with his older brother

HolyMolyOly · 02/01/2024 12:40

@TheBeeb as it was just the 3 of us, we took the mattress off the pull out trundle under the sofa and made her a floor bed in the bedroom with us. Worked well for us so we'll probably do the same again this time.

All depends on what you're comfortable with. Potentially DC5 could sleep on the sofa bit and DC2 on the pull out below it? Attached is a pic of the sofas in the one bed apartments and the drawer below pulls out but the back cushions on the sofa also come out to make another bed, so you have 2 single beds in the living area.

*We had a one bed apartment by the way. Probably would still do that with 2 young kids and wouldn't consider a 2 bed unless we had 3 kids+ or if kids were a fair bit older!
