Yeah LOL no way in hell am I putting the details of my favourite Venetian place to stay on a public website.
I will say OP, think about what you want from Venice. And then think again about which of those things you prioritise. Eg do you want a fast seamless arrival? In that case, a place with water taxi facility is worth it. Do you want to be absolutely in the heart of everything? How big a room do you want? (Lots of rooms in Venice are small.)
Bear in mind it's a place like no other, literally. I mean it's not just that there's loads of canals, it's not like Amsterdam or something, it's literally canals and paths, so apart from the absolute epicenter which yes is busy, the rest isn't "busy" in the way other cities are, because there's no roads. And it's pretty small. And the crime rate is super super low. I didn't "get" the implications of any of that till my first trip there - that you can be in the heart of one of the most visited cities in the world and yet be in a really quite quiet street, with no noise, sirens or danger of getting mugged (apart from the price of coffee in Florian's LOL). It also means that staying anywhere other than the central "fish" section (unless it's an even smaller island) you instantly lose the entire point of what makes Venice different. In addition there are lots of mosquitoes and they are savage and it can get very hot. So a charming period property is all very well but you need Aircon, fumigation and screens ime.
There are all sorts of places to stay from full on hotels to b&b arrangements and ime the b&b owners take their business and stewardship of their buildings very seriously - it is a competitive market and the city is small.
I have previously stayed in a hotel there which I was not particularly happy with, and also in a b&b where the owner was a little careless wrt updating amenities. My place of choice now - and I have been there three times - is a b&b that is professionally run - a palace property that has been in the family a long time but all the rented rooms are modernised, they have a couple of paid staff, full aircon etc amenities, and they bring breakfast to your room each morning . For me that's what I want in Venice because I am out and about all day and I like to go to different restaurants at night so the room amenities are important but I don't require extra services like restaurant or private water taxi as I'm happy enough to get the vaporetto.
It could be different for you of course. So you need to prioritise what it is you want to pay for.
