Is £850 a good deal for paris in January?

2 adults, 1 child. 3 nights, includes flights, hotel near eiffel tower, breakfast and luggage? Never been before so not sure! 4 star hotel. Or should I wait to book, thinking of booking either now or end of october?

That seems a good enough deal to me - have you priced up what each aspect would cost if you booked separately?

advice1011 · 19/09/2023 12:01

@cherryassam well the hotel alone separately is showing as £650. And flights as 300 so roughly the same but that doesn't include luggage. And luggage itself costs loads.

Just wondering if any savvy holiday bookers had any tips with when to book or if I should just go for it 😅🤣

It sounds OK. Not amazing. Depends on flight options, hotel, etc.

We got 4 nights room only + return Eurostar for 2 adults last spring for about that, and only booked about 5 weeks before we went.

advice1011 · 19/09/2023 12:03

@Whataretheodds yeah I am tempted to wait till october/november to book because of that reason.

No eurostar option unfortunately as we live up north so would be an even bigger trip for the little one.

which hotel is it? Have a look at room sizes because some are tiny. Also how close is hotel to a metro stop?

If you want to see other areas of Paris you need to check where the location of the hotel is. Paris sites are quite spread over the city.

we just did Paris with a 5 year old. Eurostar. Hotel - 4*. Amazing room size for Paris.

EmmaOvary · 19/09/2023 12:04

OP, do you have to go in January? It will be absolutely Baltic. I went in Jan a few years back and we had to wear two coats. Wasn’t very pleasant.

Nanamuffin · 19/09/2023 12:05

That was half finished!
We we’re near a metro stop and it was really good for getting around the city.

How many nights are you going for?

cherryassam · 19/09/2023 12:06

It seems a fine deal - I’d just double check which airport you’re flying in to though as I try and avoid going in to BVA if at all possible as it adds another hour at least on to getting in to central Paris.

When in January are you going? If it’s around new year I would probably book sooner rather than later

Whataretheodds · 19/09/2023 12:06

I didn't mean I thought it would get cheaper - I'd probably book sooner.
Have you shopped around for package offers on eg Holiday Pirates, Voyage Prive?

advice1011 · 19/09/2023 12:08

@EmmaOvary - want to take little one to disneyland for their birthday. I am prepared for a winter holiday so hopefully we'll be okay 😅

@Nanamuffin it's novotel eiffel tower, 10 minute walk from a metro, which hotel did you stay in?

@cherryassam either Orly or CDG, BVA seems really far!

advice1011 · 19/09/2023 12:09

@Whataretheodds - no i haven't checked those ones, I will just now though. Thanks! Any other suggestions, so far I've checked lastmin, loveholidays and TUI

I find once you search a bit you'll get ads pop up on any social media you use!

advice1011 · 19/09/2023 12:23

@Whataretheodds im searching on private browser because I saw an instagram reel about cookies upping the price 😂😂

Have a look on Expedia. We have just booked a beautiful hotel in Monmatre district, the price dropped after we looked at it.

advice1011 · 19/09/2023 12:32

@Lorrymum when are you travelling? I will certainly have a look now!

OP posts:
Nanamuffin · 19/09/2023 12:40

we stayed at the Hotel Rochester and booked directly though them as they had better offers booking direct. It was about 1 minute from the station.

What else will you do? Will you do a day trip to Disney? If so you want to think about the best route there.

How far is the hotel from the Eiffel Tower?

advice1011 · 19/09/2023 12:59

@Nanamuffin so I worked it out, station is 10 minute walk from hotel and then to disneyland its 40 mins total journey time on the metro. But depending on how we feel/price we might book an uber on the day.

I'm going to keep looking for this week anyay and not book till later, might book it separately if I can get discounts on certain sites! :)

advice1011 · 19/09/2023 12:32

We are going in November. You can take the train from Gard De Nord which will take you directly to Disneyland station. Personally I would recommend staying a night at a Disney hotel.

cherryassam · 19/09/2023 13:05

I was going to also suggest thinking about staying at Disney if that’s a big part of the trip. It’s really magical, especially the in park hotels.

3WildOnes · 19/09/2023 13:10

I would stay closer to Disney if that is the main reason for the trip. Disney is already a long tiring day for little ones and I would want to avoid travelling on top.

advice1011 · 19/09/2023 13:16

He is only 3 so only doing the one day at disney, I think he'll enjoy it more as a day trip and want to do more touristy stuff within paris too. Will check out some disney hotels too though.

cocksstrideintheevening · 19/09/2023 13:23

Having done Disney in a cold wet December I would seriously consider the Disney hotels. If it's cold / wet you can always decamp back to your room, and go back before the fireworks if you intend to watch them. You get character meet and greets in the hotels too and early park access.

knackeredmumoftwo · 19/09/2023 13:26

We stayed near Disneyland but not in a Disney hotel - it might work for you so you can do a day at the park, back for a nap and then enjoy the fireworks / parade
Doing all that and then heading back into Paris might be too much?
We then did a day into Paris - it's a mailine train into Les Halles then you change on to the metro to go where you want

Where are you flying into? Will you train j to Gare du Nord?

We drove - might be worth considering that with an overnight once you've crossed and then you can come back with a car full of French wine and food - plus your little kne can sleep in the car

Radiatorvalves · 19/09/2023 13:27

I took DSs to Disney when they were 3 and 5. In February. It was beyond Baltic. Some rides were shut because they were iced up. We also spent a day doing Eiffel Tower snd a boat on the Seine - much better. On the upside they have never asked to go back to Disney!

EmmaOvary · 19/09/2023 13:29

One thing to say about the Eiffel Tower location is the ET is actually quite far from the centre. Not a problem but if you want to see centrally based things, you’ll have a bit of a metro/RET journey
