Help! Need to plan a weekend in Paris

Please wise MNers help me map out an itinerary for a weekend in Paris with 2 DC (aged 6 and 8). Need to plan the following:

  • Friday dinner
  • Saturday activities, lunch & dinner
  • Sunday morning & lunch

Any ideas of things to do, interesting neighbourhoods, restaurants, etc. would be gratefully received 🙏

I've been to Paris a couple of time before but never with the DC. And I've always felt a bit "lost" there TBH so would love some recommendations.

Would prefer to stay central. Happy to travel around by metro or Uber.

We took littles when they were about 6 and 4 I think.

Luxembourg Gardens (Jardins du Luxemburg) is beautiful and has a small lake which kids can sail tiny toy boats upon.

Treize Bakery (which has recently moved to nearby Lux Gard) we found very friendly and accommodating of smalls. American-run but very much part of their neighbourhood/the scene.

You obviously HAVE to go up the Eiffel Tower! I can't remember but would obv recommend buying tix in advance and the lift up is so cool as toy can see all the mechanisms.

We also bought a boat pass one day which enabled us to travel up and down the Seine and get on and off where we wanted.

Pompidou looks cool from outside but we didn't go in. Musee D'Orsay was fun for kids.

Ice creams/crepes to fuel the fun!

Disclaimer - we took kids in May

Enjoy!

We took DC that age to Musee D’Orsay as they both liked Impressionist art. We went down the Seine and also walked around Monmartre. We went into Galleries Lafayette for the glass ceiling and retail and looked Latin Quarter. Jardin du Luxembourg is a good area to stay in.

The 2 day open top bus tickets are great. We stayed on for a complete tour and then used as a hop on off for the rest of the time.

Eating up by the Sacre Coeur is cheaper and a great atmosphere - square of restaurants with pavement artists etc, lots of fixed price menus much more affordable than the city centre.

We also got tickets for the hop on hop off bus tour which worked well - it included a boat ride too - saved too much walking g and we covered a lot of ground Also tickets for the Eiffel Tower to save queuing.

I used to live in Paris (pre kids). I lived very close to the Luxembourg Gardens and if the weather is nice, it is lovely there. The galleries and museums are fine for kids and so is shopping, cafes etc.

You could also take the RER to Versailles and have a look around the Palace and gardens or go out to Disneyland (my kids would be more interested in that than anything else tbh 😂 and they are a similar age to yours).

Ours enjoyed going on a river boat.

Saturday:
Climb the Eiffel Tower - it opens at 9.30 so try and get a ticket for then.
Ride on the carousel next to the tower
Hop on the Batobus near the carousel and get off at the Norte Dame stop
Walk up to the Pompidou. My dc love riding the escalators and it’s a brilliant museum for kids www.centrepompidou.fr/en/visit/children-and-families

Sunday morning :
Do a treasure hunt at the Louvre louvreguide.com/treasure-hunt-for-kids It opens at 9am and is usually quite quiet at that time on Sundays
Have a hot chocolate at Angelina
Check out the amazing adventure playground in Jardin Tuileries.
Have a Croque Monsieur for lunch at Cocorico
