Hi Trix, we flew to San Fran with them last July, abit annoyed that we had to pay for drinks on a long haul flight! In general they were ok, but if I could have afforded the extra to fly Virgin I would. Two out of five of our back seat video screens didn`t work all the way back, not what you need with 9yr old triplets!

triplets · 03/03/2008 23:21

Another thing, have you ordered kids menus? They were quite good, would really recommend though buying soft drinks and snacks from shop before you board the plane, we were charged £3.50p a drink!

They don't offer very much in terms of service and charge for both drinks and headsets. Board with no prior expectations at all and you'll hopefully be okay. Take your own foodstuffs for the children along with a portable DVD player and do not fully rely on them to provide.

Good luck!!.

We weren`t charged for the headsets, but the film selection for kids was very poor, and the adult films which one of mine kept putting on was totably not suitable, difficult to keep an eye on themm so agree with Atilla, if poss take your own sets.

Trix11 · 04/03/2008 08:37

Oh dear - Can you take drinks and snacks on to the planes now? If you can great, I can stock up.

Foodstuff is not a problem but liquids I believe are still subject to the 100ml limit. Buy such items after the security checkpoint.

We were put on to a United flight home from LAX yesterday and they were not baby friendly at all. They had NO food for DD (11 mths)for a 10 hour flight and the sky cot was a soft carrycot that went on the floor and she was far too big for.

You can take liquids under 100 ml onto the plane through security, and also sealed babyfood jars. Which airport are you going to? LAX had no baby food/ drink in any of their shops.

Oh no

We are flying from heathrow to Washington and then connecting to Orlando.

So we wont be able to bring snacks etc on board then?

You can take snacks on board the aircraft for your flight to Washington. You can buy water after the security checkpoint at Heathrow as liquids as still subject to the 100ml ruling.

Washington domestic's terminal is not bad in terms of facilities. Just ensure you have enough time to transit between the flight arriving from Heathrow and your onward one to Orlando (you ideally need around 2 hours).

Do not rely fully on UA to provide re foodstuffs for the children as they will likely come up short.

Trix11 · 16/03/2008 19:32

Thank you attila - Do the snacks have to be purchased after the security checkpoint?

I flew with them a few years ago and had no complaints excellent service (a member of cavin crew took me to the galley and got me bladdered ).

You can take food through the security checkpoint at Heathrow. However, would suggest you leave any uneaten food for this plane journey behind on disembarking the aircraft in Washington.
