How much cash for a couple of days in Portugal?

DD will be in Portugal for three nights, so 2.5 days. She'll need to pay for food and drink and one short train journey. She never uses cash in the UK, so it hadn't occurred to her to take any Euros. Will she actually need hard cash?

When I was there recently I used Apple Pay and/or my Revolut card, no cash. That was Lisbon though,mi don't know about other places.

We just paid by card except for taxi needed cash but withdrew over there.

We go to Portugal a lot. Whilst places would prefer cash, most take card. She should check before she orders.

We draw cash from our debit cards in the supermarket and banks. She should be careful of Euronet machine which charge a withdrawal fee.

Worth having some notes and coins for small purchases- coffee etc

Many of the cheaper restaurants we ate at did not take cards. And by 'cheaper' I do not mean in any way grotty or lacking in service. Those restaurants were where we ate most of our best meals during our holiday. International chain eateries took cards.
