Clear bags for hand luggage toiletries 20x20x?

I was just wondering if the bags you use for liquids at the airport have to be flat/thin-like a zip lock bag, or can they be more like this in width?

I travel a lot and use these...

They've always been accepted and have lasted me years.

I've bought them for lots of other people who all swear by them too!

We flew with just hand luggage from Birmingham recently and just used press and seal bags provided at the airport and I had a separate see through bag similar to yours with make up in of which they took no notice. Most people had a rucksack as well as a carry on suitcase including us. Some of the cases were pretty big imo. None of our hand luggage was weighed either because we'd already checked in online so went straight to security/departure.
The only thing I saw refused was someone who tried to take a massive bottle of calpol but was made to leave it and advised to re buy once through security.
