That's adult only but not full of couples ( so no romantic hideaway sandals type thing) ?

I've not been away for 5 years and I'd like now to be really brave and book a holiday alone somewhere beautiful, warm, and relaxing.

Normally if going with someone I've booked everything separately but there's a bit too much that could go wrong , and I wouldn't want to hire a car , so I'm thinking all inclusive, safe, if short haul I'd look at a week , if long haul 10 or 14 days as long as it's 5* , no chance of food poisoning or anything like that!

Normally like to sight see but probably not alone , so happy to have a nice pool, nice beach, warm sea , and simply lay and read for the duration, and do not much else .

I don't know how much a single person supplement is but just looking for recommendations especially from any lone travellers.
Can go anytime of year. Looking at next year.
Thank you .

The BodyHoliday in St Lucia would be perfect. My best friend just got back as a solo traveller.

Adults only, all inclusive, spa treatment every day, do as much or as little as you want and meals you can either have a table for one or they have a hosted table that singles can join so you don’t have to eat alone. Singles were mainly ladies from the USA.

She’s already looking to book again for next year!!!

Fivemoreminutes1 · 02/09/2023 06:09

How about a cruise? You’d get to see different places with the security of being on a booked excursion and travelling with others off your ship.

Colinorpercy · 02/09/2023 06:14

I was going to suggest a cruise too-Caribbean sounds like it would fit your bill of relaxation. We did one at Easter time and it was a lovely time to visit Caribbean. Beaches were very easy to get to by taxi but if you didn’t fancy that could book cruise excursion.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 02/09/2023 08:28

Norwegian cruise line has solo cabins, known as Studios, all in one place (so all the people you bump into are solo cruisers) and they include a lounge area for socialising. Royal Caribbean also has several solo cabins with no single supplement.

PinkPondQueen · 02/09/2023 08:39

I also think a cruise would be perfect but you'll need to find one that has single cabins or doesn't charge a single supplement or it will be very pricey. Likewise with hotels.

Oops can see @Fivemoreminutes1 has beaten me to it 😂

I did a month long cruise with my ex and while I enjoyed it I wouldn't want to do it again

It was full of old people and the singles were not welcomed at dinner I found , we were on a table of 10 with 2 singles and the other couples complained that singles should all be together which I found unwelcoming

Out of the month only 2 weeks were in the sun, obviously due to travel time , and I spent several black tie events alone due to ex being an arse and felt quite lonely on a packed out ship sat in a ball gown alone

So no to a cruise

I did a sailing holiday in Antigua with sunsail years ago, a diving holiday in Sharm with Longwood. My friend is going on an escorted trip on the silk road on 12 th September staring in Kazekstan

Loved the look of the body holiday but at 15K a bit pricey!

Having a look at tui cruises...

It isn't AI but other than that, ticks all your boxes @fabmaccawhackythumbsaloft

I went here alone and it was perfect for lone travellers. It's Saree Samui, a small villa resort on Ko Samui. It's an easy taxi from the airport. I had a seaview villa so my own pool if I didn't want to use the main pool or beach. Main pool was very quiet actually, and has a bar so you can sit on a lounger with a happy hour cocktail. They have an onsite restaurant which is very single friendly. I felt very comfortable eating there alone and the food is good. They also do room service if you don't want to go to the restaurant (or outside). There's a onsite spa too. It's Thai owned so very chilled and quite low key.

i usually go on holiday alone and normally just booked through jet2 or tui, the extra is only about 150/200 to book a room for 1
although now my next solo holiday is through BA holidays

She paid just over £4k for two weeks with BA holidays in the sales. DEFINITELY not £15k.

I mean, still pricey, but she literally didn’t spend a single penny extra whilst there.

whiskyremorse · 02/09/2023 11:24

I suggest you look again at Body Holiday via British Airways, package deals £2-3k a week. It has loads of solo travellers especially women, many who go every year. Such a wonderful place, I would love to go every year.

fabmaccawhackythumbsaloft · 02/09/2023 12:05

Thank you ! I'll take another look 👍

Not as glamorous sounding as some of the others, but closer and less expensive.
We went to the Seaside Los Jameos in Lanzarote in october last year and i'd highly recommend it. we went as a family, but i saw a few people on their own, looking serene and relaxed. The food is excellent and there is. lovely spa and activities such as yoga if you fancy some company, or even tennis tournaments if that's your thing.

If you get bored, there is some modest sightseeing that can be done by bus or tour.

Tui/Marella are cheap & very down-market, & food is not good.

@fabmaccawhackythumbsaloft I booked direct. I flew direct but if you're coming from the UK, you'll need to connect in Bangkok. I highly recommend Bangkok Airways for the connection, Great airline, great food and Samui is a fab airport done in a Thai/Tiki style with a lounge with snacks for all passengers regardless of class. (Also some great shopping before check-in - I recommend all the aromatherapy products at Harnn).

I have seen lots of ads for pilates/yoga or more non specific “wellness” holidays in Europe, usually in June or September and in Greece or Italy. Clientele is usually women on their own.

this sort of thing

F Zeen in Kefalonia seems to specialise in this kind of thing

fabmaccawhackythumbsaloft · 02/09/2023 16:04

Thanks so much ! Gonna keep researching, I'm sort of glad about tui cruises because I'm right off tui altogether and was reluctant to give them any money

Have a look at Nana Golden Beach in Crete. It is a family resort, but has lots of areas away from kids and entertainment, so if you want a bit of peace and quiet you can have it, but if you want to go to the main pool with entertainment you can too. There are also a couple of small villages up the hill, that have loads of tavernas, and one ofvthem, Old Hersonnisos, has a greek dancing night every monday in season, which usxreally good. fun.
