Non-Ski Winter Break

Can anyone help me find a destination for a no skiing winter break? Hoping to go between Christmas & New year for 4-5 nights. Will be me, DH and 5 year old DD.

Looking for snow, nice walks, husky sledging potentially. Quiet setting, not a city.

We went to Austria last winter and before having DD have toured Iceland and Norway.

I'd be really interested in this too! How were your other trips in Norway etc?

When Dc were that age we went to EuroDisney for a long weekend after Christmas. it was so empty! We walked onto every ride. No queues. Great parades and everything still decorated for Christmas. DC had the time of their lives, even though it was bitterly cold.

Also had a Christmas in Iceland which seems odd given there's only about 4 hours of daylight! but it was great. Did the golden circle tour of waterfalls and bubbling geysers during day light. Swan in teh blue lagoon and secret lagoon. Petted cute Icelandic horses. Went to cosy cafes. Climbed Hallgrimskirke tower. Shopkeepers were very friendly to Dc, giving them drawing books and chocolates and letting them play musical instruments. Very friendly place.

@Sweetpea1989 Norway was very good, we did all the typical things - husky sledging, night in snow hotel and saw northern lights. We also got a local cruise ship which took us from the northern most point down to Tromso, it is a company called Hurtigruten. I’d really recommend that. We didn’t have kids at the time but our 5 year old would have loved it.
Iceland was incredible, we spent a few days in Reykjavik then drove along the south coast and saw the glacier lagoon/walked on a glacier/black sands beach. I wouldn’t do that with our 5 year old though, I’d wait until she was older.

Ive been researching today and haven’t settled on anything yet. Also noticed some hotels are fully booked already so I’m worried I’ve left it too late..

@TotalOverhaul What a good idea going to EuroDisney when it’s quiet, it would have never occurred to me and I didn’t know it would be open at that time of year!
Although I said above I wouldn’t return to Iceland until DD is older, I think she would be ok in Reykjavik so will keep that in mind. It was 7 years ago when I went and I’m still getting over the shock of how expensive food/drink were! All the other places I’m considering will be the same though!
