Thinking about going away for DC 2nd birthday to Disneyland Paris? Good idea or wait a few more years ?

I would go if you’d like to do it op, but I wouldn’t put all the pressure on your 2 yo enjoying it as it’s very full on. We went last November when DD has just turned 4 - there were lots of very overwhelmed, overtired toddlers crying at the costumed characters and refusing to pose for photos etc (and more than a few parents getting cross).

That being said I do know people who have taken toddlers and had a blast, so I guess it depends on the 2yo! DD is Disney mad and was old enough to understand queuing etc, so we had an absolutely magical time. We went late enough in November that all the decorations were up so it was lovely (v cold though! 😁).

There’s a great Facebook group called DLP for Brits that’s worth joining - lots of trip reports and advice.

Good luck!

I would wait until 4.

We took my 2 year old a few weeks ago and she loved it. Loads that was suitable for her age.
Although I would say that the main reason we went was because we have a 6 year old too. For me 6 is the perfect age and I will definitely go again when the 2 year old is older so she gets the same experience.

So if you can only afford to go once I'd wait a few years but if you think you'd go again then absolutely go for it. I loved it so much!

We took my little boy a week before his 2nd birthday and he absolutely loved it. He still mentions it most days five months on and is asking to go back. He stayed up for the fireworks every night too (his request / begging to basically lol) and that was his favourite. We've created a huge Disney fan. Don't blame him though as it was literally best holiday I've ever been on and I'm quite well travelled haha. it was just completely magical though. Hoping to go back for Christmas.

Go if you want to go yourselves, suitable accommodation, and there is loads to do, even with a 2 year old, you will probably really enjoy it (cost aside !!!). They won't remember it though at 2yo. It was a staple go to place for us for years with 4 kids. Port Aventura was another one. My kids are now grown up and still beg for one more time at DLP !!! If money is an issue, I would probs say there are cheaper places that would serve just as well mind.

We took dd there when she was 9 and she absolutely loved it. At this age she could enjoy the rides and stay up for the fireworks. It was still magical for her and she enjoyed tea with the princesses. Whilst under 5s might enjoy it it is an expensive holiday and I would wait until your dc is old enough to remember that they’ve been there.

Not for me

Took my DD when she was two and it was ok because she got free entry but I wouldn't say she got much out of the experience.

Not for me - I think that’s too young to appreciate it and if they are having a bad day, it’ll be ruined for everyone

I don't think one grumpy 2 year old is going to ruin Disney for everyone.

Use common sense like planning breaks, naps, snacks etc and if you go to see a show obviously take them out if they get fussy but in general queues etc there will be loads of tired grumpy kids (and adults!)

Tbh it sounds unnecessarily stressful. If you really want to go for yourselves and your 2 year old is fairly easy going then go for it, but most 2 year olds won’t get much out of it.

7+ is ideal really. That’s why kids under 7 are often free/cheaper as they don’t get as much out of it as older kids, can’t go on all the rides etc. Though a mature 5 or 6 year old who really loves Disney would probably still have a blast. Those who say they had a great time with a toddler are probably huge Disney fans themselves and have easy going kids. When I was there there were so so many wailing, screaming tots and exasperated looking parents. Not for me.
