Where can 10 month old sleep?

Sorry if this is a stupid question! I am thinking of going on my first holiday since having a baby - my parents have a holiday home in America - but I'm not sure where my daughter (Annie) could sleep. She will be 10 months by then. I looked at hiring a cot but it would be quite expensive, and it wouldn't be there for the first night (we arrive late). I'm not averse to buying something so long as its not too expensive - my parents suggested a playard (I think they are the same as travel cots or a pop up play pen) but they don't seem to have much of a mattress base. At 10 months old would I be better putting her in a bed with the side bed guards, or is it a little early for that?

Thanks for any suggestions!

IME 10 months old move around ALOT during the night, but I guess if side bed guards are full lenght of bed or nearly it would be ok. Although if they are a climber they'd easily climb over the top of the guards. I'd put pillows on floor by bed incase baby rolled off. TBH, I'd just put baby in our bed and let her sleep with us for the holiday.

Ask your parents to buy a travel cot or take one with you as part of your luggage allowance.

buy a small one to take with you
e.g. the samsonite pop up one, or the phil and teds one that folds down to sleeping bag size

how much do you want to spend? Might be cheaper in the US anyway, so your parents could buy it before you go

i wouldn't put a 10 month old ina bed TBH

My DD hated her travel cot when little, so she just slept in our bed when we went away.

travel cots fine - they're fairly cheap in US and you can get an extra mattress btu never an issue for ours on occasional use

We have always taken a travel cot, your parents could get it for you so that that you don't need to lug it around. My ds2 is 10 months and regularly sleeps in it, we have bought an extra 'mattress' from Mothercare especially for it, that you could take with you as its small and portable. I wouldn't put him a normal bed as he would wriggle around too much and would try to climb over the rail even in a grobag. We have used a small Samsonite pop-up but now he is too big for it, the bigger ones look great and lightweight (like a tent) but may take up quite a lot of room when up.

Do your parent's rent out their home through a company? We went to USA twice last year and the rental company provided us with a lanyard and a full-size cot for my son.

He was also 10 months when we visited for the second time but the lanyard was very small and barely had any mattress to speak of. We managed to get the cot for the second night and ds slept well in it for the rest of the holiday.

Alternatively walmart or target will sell one quite cheaply and walmart is usually open 24hrs. We bought a carseat from walmart rather than rent for 2 weeks. We hired for first day and then returned to Car hire company after buying one for $40 in walmart. Much more economical!!
