Backpack or wheeled cabin bag

I need a new cabin bag. I was going to automatically get a wheeled bag again but it’s been suggested I should get a backpack as easier to manoeuvre alongside my checked luggage (no chance of me getting everything into a carry on bag).

This type of backpack has been suggested (though I then have to consider which size)

If you're using it primarily as a cabin bag I would definitely get one of the bags that are designed to meet the new size restrictions, a soft backpack rather than a wheeled case. Unless you're planning to fly only with airlines that allow the larger cabin bags/pay the supplement.

I generally only do long haul so the larger cabin bag is fine. I think I might go for the backpack - it will make it less likely I need a luggage trolley!

I have a backpack that has wheels. It's fantastic. I often do 3 nights in the US for work and I can fit everything in. But I do travel light.

I'd recommend Cabin Zero. They are cheaper.

We normallu check in a bag so cabin luggag is really just for the stuff we need during the flight plus valuables and most backpacks are fine.

If you think of using it as your main luggage, do read the requirement thoroughly.

I’ll check out Cabin Zero, thanks.

There’s no way I could manage it as my main luggage. I’ve never learnt to pack light, I’m afraid!

It depends on the journey. Wheeled cases are great for lengthy stopovers, when you need to walk a long distance and don't want a backache, or need to change modes of transport several times or arrive looking smart (no bag over your shoulder creasing your clothes).

If you are doing shorthaul from Point A to Point B, straightforward journey, I might go with the backpack. Also great if you are going somewhere without pavements!

I have that bag it's great. Use it for work and 5 night warm Europe breaks etc
