We have 6 sets of tablets between us. Some are in boxes but stupidly mine are in a pillbox. wondering am i better off carrying them in hand luggage? would they need to check the checked case for any pills??

Always take medication in hand luggage.

The advice is always hand luggage as what would you do if a case got lost and you didn't have your meds?

Oh yes well that is a good idea thanks!

... and take a photo/scan on your phone of every prescription and medicine box so that if you get delayed, run out, lose your bag or someone forgets to pack their meds, you have something to show the pharmacist at your holiday destination. This would also come in useful should anyone at Customs take an interest in your pills.

Thanks for that, great advice :)

I have to travel with a large number of meds, wherever I go. Several of these are also controlled (schedule 2, I think?), and will always take them in my hand luggage as if your main luggage gets lost you have those safe. I've had luggage lost before so was definitely glad I took them in hand luggage (plus extra pairs of pants etc, I am clearly not a "risk taker" 😆).

Seriously, tho, I would put them all together in a transparent bag if you can. If a few then take out however many strips of each led you need and flatten the boxes to keep in case they want to see them (with your name etc on) but I also always the most recent print out of my repeat prescription just in case. So far I've had no issues whatsoever - including having more than one form of opiates - they rarely want to even look at them but I'll still sometimes pull out of bag and put through X-ray separately in same/other tray. Just double check the guidelines for the country you are visiting just to be certain there aren't separate issues with any particularly drug - legality - in the country you're visiting. Just have it to hand just in case, for convenience in case they do want to look. I am quite clear when I go through as to what some of the items are (eg telling them ive morphine etc) before they even ask. Even then they've rarely been looked at.

Good luck and I'm sure it'll all be fine! I was always worried to begin with but it's always been ok.

I always take all of my meds in my carry on cabin case whatever airline I am flying with. That has often included Ryanair.

Essential medication > Always in hand baggage..

Not just because checked in bags can get lost, but also because there are occasions when there can be a major, major, even overnight delays to a flight and there might be no opportunity to return hold bags to their owners before the replanned departure.

Always in hand luggage for essential medication. Half my carry on is medication, which is a pain, but I've had my checked luggage go to the wrong continent, and take days to get back to me. Not taking that chance with meds.

Thanks all we are both so so grateful as we were packing it as checked x
