Luxury holiday for special holiday with best kids club for older kids that they will actually enjoy!

Does anyone have any recommendations for a luxury holiday, probably in the Mediterranean but open to other destinations that has an amazing kids club for an 8 and 11 year old that they will actually be happy to stay in (both naturally a little on the shy side)? Looking at next May half term for a special birthday. We really want to have a little time by ourselves as well as spend time together as a family. I was thinking Club Med but have read a few threads on here that suggest they are often very French-heavy and can be hard for the children to integrate

Bahia principe chain is lovely. I would look at the Caribbean at that time of year it's the end of the season for them so reasonably priced.

Unsure if your budget but a friend of mine used to go here with her children.

Scott Dunn Pine Cliffs

Sani

Ikos

Liberty Lykia and

Maxx Royal

Oops pressed too soon.

Maxx Royal also gave great kids clubs too.

Gah excuse the typos. Blush

Thereisnoname · 18/08/2023 14:37

Not been personally but knowledge of people that have been to Ikos and Sani, think they are owned by the same company .

watyawant · 18/08/2023 15:00

Neilson holidays are great for teens who like water sports

Martinhal

I forgot about Martinhal. We had a great holiday and my dc loved the kid's club there but they were younger than the Op's.

Op check out the wind. We went in June and it was very windy. Other than that it's fab.

What do your children like doing? A few hotels have a football camp for example which ours really enjoyed whereas they'd never go to a general kids club. An alternative is to see if the hotels offers something like private tennis coaching. Our DC did that for 90 mins every other day one holiday.

Cruise ships
Beaches Turks and Caicos

Neilson for teens. Not really luxury but very comfortable and everyone gets to choose their own way to enjoy their holiday.

lastseasonstop · 19/08/2023 07:33

A cruise. We didn’t see our kids at that age when onboard.

Sirzy · 19/08/2023 08:13

I was going to suggest a cruise. Ds doesn’t use the kids clubs but I have heard amazing things about them

I'd second Neilson - not luxury surroundings but comfortable and pleasant, and the activities laid on are first rate. Not long back from one where our 8yo has been doing tennis, supping, kayaking, sailing, cycling and generally having a whale of a time in kids club.

Otterspotter · 19/08/2023 10:53

Thank you for your replies!
going to check several of these.
I hadn’t thought of a cruise but it’s something I’ve thought of in the past. Didn’t realise it could be good for children. Does anyone have any recommendations for any particular cruise operators/specific ships to look at with the best kids clubs?

If you want teenagers to enjoy the clubs then Neilson.

Brilliant clubs and atmosphere. Excellent for families.

Otterspotter · 11/09/2023 15:00

I’m actually still going round in circles with this

i’d love to do Ikos but it’s looking like £8.5k plus for May half term 😮
I’m tempted by the cruise idea and have found a Royal Caribbean option that has interconnecting rooms but I keep wondering if it’s the right idea as it seems like it will be quite ‘full-on’ when if I’m being completely honest I mainly want to lounge around while the children are kept occupied for periods of the day 😳 I don’t love e.g. evening entertainment generLly
I feel tempted by a Neilson/Club Med/Mark Warner but having read a few reviews it seems like the food and accommodation is pretty basic
Tempted by Dubai but just not sure the activity clubs with timetables including eg 1 hour of what’s the time mr wolf will be enough, especially for my 12 year old
😲

Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Holland America cater well for Children. Personally I would avoid P&O as the ships are cheaper but a much lower standard.

benoticanarsed · 19/09/2023 07:15

Will there be any they want to stay in?

Me and my siblings went to all the clubs.

My two now 11 and 13 tried a few and probably went 1-2 times then didn't want to go back.
