Fancy doing this sort of holiday next year with 11 snd 13 year old as plenty to do e.g hike, bike, swim etc. Does anyone have experience of Alpine Elements which offers summer packages in Morzine or any other suggestions of places/ companies etc? Thank you

No experience of Morzine but the alps in the summer are amazing. We go a bit further south not far from Briancon, but independently which might not suit. So much to do… sadly not been this summer but 18 yo is going with some mates, which says something about how much he likes it there. Biking, rafting on the Durance, kayaking in the lake…. Chilling by the lake. Enjoy!

Watching! We are looking at Alpine Elements or Simply Morzine but interested in other options too. I like the idea of a company that organises some activities for us, mainly so the DC can meet others their age easily.

I've only been to chilly powder in morzine which was amazing, the food was great.

Sorry that's not really doing it justice! Just a great set up home from home, kids all hung out together, activities not included but they will organise for you. And separate adults three course meal every night. My kids are a bit too old now as teens or I'd go back!

Thanks everyone for comments. Sorry for delay, been rough as hell with bug I picked up on plane. In the meantime also found mas el pegri in Girona and undiscovered mountains in south of france. Struggling with not wanting to be too organised but still having everything to hand! Also would prefer to get there by train if poss which makes life more tricky!

We have spent several summers in Morzine and have rented chalets through reach4the Alps , treeline chalets and simply Morzine. With the multipass it's really easy to organize your own schedule. Your lift passes are included and there are discounts on multiple activities including rope courses, swimming etc. The biking is not for the faint hearted, it's extreme but you can canoe, raft etc at nearby lakes. The toboggan run is also great fun. What sets Morzine apart is the quality of the accommodation...it's all great as it's designed for the demanding ski market.

Pyrenees? Plenty of hiking / rafting / mountain biking etc. You could get as far as Lourdes/ Argeles - Gazot by train but you would probably need a car from there if you wanted to explore.

It is possible to get to many Austrian ski resorts by train - see the info on www.seat61.com

We've been to Saalbach in the summer a few times. Train to Zell am See (we usually fly into Salzburg) then a short bus ride to Saalbach. There are hiking trails on the mountains, mountain biking (including organised day-camps for the kids), a huge high-ropes park and zip wires at the end of the Saalbach valley, an outdoor pool (many hotels also have pools), paragliding. 20 mins down the road at Zell am See/Kaprun there is a lake with all the usual water sports, plus a veteran steam train, a summer toboggan run (on rails) and a snow park at the top of Kitzsteinhorn. Another 20 mins brings in white water rafting at Base Camp in Lofer, a big limestone cave to explore at Lamprechtshohle, and a silver mine from the Middle Ages at Leogang.

We went to Morzine with Alpine Elements a few years ago. It was a really great holiday. We stayed at a small french run hotel, not listed on the AE site, which had a pool and was an easy walk from everywhere. We had the free multipass which gave us access to all the buses and lifts. Teen son enjoyed mountain biking, high ropes, hikes, paddle boarding, rock climbing etc. Morzine is a great town, with lots to do. Ideal for teens!

What about Lake Annecy? We were there in March but really want to return in a summer because the lake looked so beautiful for swimming, there are a couple of beaches. Plenty of biking and hiking opportunities. We also used Activ Annecy for a few activities and they were absolutely superb. So nuch to do around there!

We've done a DIY summer activity holiday with family in Argentiere and Morzine. Morzine was excellent in the summer, especially with mountain bikes.
