Building work and Airbnb

We're staying at a very nice and pretty expensive Airbnb in the Austrian Alps, chosen partly because it is on the edge of a village and quiet. There has been building work going on around since we arrived which has been pretty noisy. This is annoying but ok. However, for the last two days, they have been resurfacing the road directly outside our apartment. When I say resurface, I think I actually mean "creating" a road. They are digging up the road to the depth of a meter, then filling it with hardcore rocks. This is happening within 3 meters of the kitchen. There are currently 3 diggers, one bulldozer and a lorry full of rocks surrounding the entrance to the apartment. It is very, very noisy. It's deeply unpleasant to open a window (30 degrees today) and the balcony is unusable because of the noise. The work starts at 7.30am every morning.

While I appreciate this is not the fault of the owner, this has impacted on our enjoyment of the holiday. Would you say anything to the owner or in the review? The owner is a professional superhost with a lot of properties, if that makes a difference. (Was hoping to add a picture showing how close diggers are, but it's too big).

Presumably it’s the local council (or Austrian equivalent) doing these works rather than the AirBNB owner? In which case the owner would have had no control over these works and potentially doesn’t even know that they’re going on.

I'd contact the owner now and make them aware. And depending on how they respond, mention it in your review.

They should have made you aware of the work before you arrived but it's possible if that the owner may not even be aware if they manage a number of properties.

I would definitely mention it to the owner. You've mentioned that the owner has multiple properties, so he/she might be able to offer you an alternative property.
