2 under 2 abroad

Hello, I'm looking at a holiday next year, 2 infants under 2 and we don't want to spend more than £500pp.
The only family friendly place coming up in budget is Turkey but whilst in the holiday shop today a different rep told us about Side in Turkey being very German and Russian dominant. This has put us off a little bit, so we looked at Antalya but the transfer is close to 2 hours on top of a 4/5 hour flight, one child will be nearly 2 the other will be 3 months.. is this absolutely do able or should we do a caravan holiday instead? I'm absolutely fine caravanning as I love it but I'm just wondering how much of a holiday it will really be with 2 under 2? We wanted to go next year as both kids will be free so will be cheaper than waiting till they're older.

What time next year?

EasyJet Holidays has options in June coming in at under 1k in Crete, Gran Canaria, Kos, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Corfu, Cyprus, Costa Brava

Its worth having a look and seeing if any take your fancy through them as they are often a bit cheaper than Tui / Jet2 etc.

SillySausage21 · 06/08/2023 19:59

@cherryassam we was thinking end of April as oldest is 2 at the end of May.. thinking as cheap as possible 😂

Greece will still be chilly end of April. Turkey will just be starting to warm up. Any tourist area you to to in Turkey will have good English if that’s what you’re worried about?

N4ish · 06/08/2023 20:02

Personally I would avoid flying with two children that age, sounds like a recipe for a really stressful time.

Sorry, no recommendations on where to go but I would stay in the UK in your shoes. Is somewhere like CenterParcs out of budget? Not sure how it much it costs now.

ZebraKid71 · 06/08/2023 20:08

The holiday would be fine but I wouldn't want a four hour flight with 2 kids who didn't have seats.. what about getting the ferry to France? Or somewhere with a shorter flight

SillySausage21 · 06/08/2023 20:12

@HermioneWeasley yeah, and just worried about something being wrong and having no communication with anyone

@N4ish I've not actually had a look at centerparcs!

@ZebraKid71 yeah I was worried about the flight too 😫 I don't even want to go Turkey it's just looking like the best family friendly place to go that's within budget.. maybe eurocamps is a better option and more choice

OP posts:
cherryassam · 06/08/2023 20:12

That makes sense! But April does make things a bit difficult as most of the shorter flight destinations will have questionable weather and the tourist season will often not have started.

Turkey is usually low twenties at that time.

You might find something in the Canaries under the budget but it’s still a good 4hrs or so flight.

PenguinLove1 · 06/08/2023 20:15

Just wait and go later but find a free child place deal - those ages at that time of year sounds like it could be a nightmare and not a relaxing holiday for you

I would wait for eldeat to turn 2 so you can have the extra seat on the plane.

SillySausage21 · 06/08/2023 20:46

Thank you for your suggestions.. back to the drawing board we go 😂🥲

I love holidays abroad and refused to go away with 2 at that age. It would have been stressful and not worth it.

We went to Centre Parks instead.

gogomoto · 06/08/2023 21:43

There's lots of half board options first week May, many resorts and flights don't start until then in my experience

mrssunshinexxx · 07/08/2023 04:45

Center parcs if you can go term time so good for families and really reasonable ! I have a 1 and 3 yo and we haven't taken them abroad yet , too stressful

SillySausage21 · 07/08/2023 13:29

So just had a quick browse on centerparcs and this is what I can't fathom about the price.. £819 for a one bed apartment.. ive seen deals to Turkey for £880, and that's to be abroad all inclusive, not in Cumbria self catering 😫

I'd try Lanzarote.. because be warm with a breeze but not too hot. Flights are longer. But hire a car from airport ( Autoreisen free kids seats) and cheaper than transfers then you have it for the whole holiday .loads of places do kids clubs have play areas and splash pools.
Easy do it on your budget. Been going with my daughter and Grandson scince he was 18 months.

RecordPlayer · 07/08/2023 13:33

We did Ireland to Reus and stayed in Cambrils Park Resort with a 19 month old and 5 month old. It was fantastic. Not caravan but a chalet kind of thing, 2 bedrooms, air con etc. We went the end of May but it's open from the end of April I think. Cost us less than €2k total for flights and accommodation for the week.

SillySausage21 · 07/08/2023 13:38

Thank you both, will have another dig around tonight! X

Go into a travel agent! Actually go and talk to them! I know it sounds old school, but they’ve always got us far better deals than we’ve found online and can change random
Perimeters far easier. See what they come up with.

Cyclistmumgrandma · 07/08/2023 14:00

Don't plan ahead for an expensive holiday with a 3 month old... It might be fine and you may have a baby that sleeps wherever and is portable. On the other hand you might have a baby that doesn't sleep and a toddler with raging jealousy at that point. There is no way of knowing. Perhaps plan for a couple of weeks at home with some day trips or book something last minute if all goes well.

SillySausage21 · 07/08/2023 16:07

@PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister we went into somewhere on Sunday and she wasn't helpful at all 😫 feel like she ignored everything we said, she's a young girl who holidays with her mum so was telling us lots of good places that were not what we wanted due to the long flights. We just didn't feel heard by her, was a weird exchange tbf. When looking at one I asked about what the room was and was there cots available for the two kids and she didn't even look into it she just said "it'll be alright" ?! 😂

@Cyclistmumgrandma ahh yes! I've been thinking about this too, I think you're completely right there.. I think I'll have to bite the bullet and pay for a spot when DD is over 1 and we atleast know how they're getting on as siblings etc

We did Eurocamp at that age and it was perfect - we went for sites with splash pools suitable for toddlers plus little play parks. Walking distance to town for breakfast and lunch shopping but then evening meal out most nights.

Own space to relax and DH and I could sit out and sunbathe on the large decking when kids napped and in the evenings.

We flew to South of France and it was perfect in every way.

I'll have a quick look as the site was amazing
