What would this consist of? DS (12 mths) is shattered, slept from 7pm - 9.15pm fine no probs and is now screaming hysterically, we have been back from Florida 3 days. Any ideas? What should I be doing for him?

did he have dummy in when landing/taking off?maybe his ears didnt pop and they're causing him trouble?

MrsBigDrumsADrumming · 13/12/2004 21:34

we took dd to NZ when she was 18 months old... took her a week to settle into the time zone there and then coming back the same again. Coming back she actually slept through the night the first night and we thought 'brilliant', but then she became toddler from hell.

MrsChristmaswallace has a point though re the ears. Especially if ds had a slight snuffle or so, he might have had problems equalising and that can be VERY painful.

No he doesn't use a dummy, but still drinks from a bottle in the evenings so would that have sorted it? DH is currently giving him more milk - he has already had 9oz.

He settled to the time zone there straight away - if it is his ears, what can we do?

hi

a few good yawns and a bottle should do the trick for the ears?

mrschristmaswallace · 13/12/2004 21:52

think i say this all the time but ring nhs direct tonight for advice and if still poorly in morn, take him to gp. have heard that its best to give babies a dummy or bottle when taking off/landing to make the sucking/swallow motion we do when we have a boiled sweet or hold nose and blow? hope all gets sorted.

soapboxingday · 13/12/2004 21:55

If its his ears then calpol and infant nurofen alternated every 2-3 hours should do the trick.

If things get desparate then give both doses similtaneously. Just don't exceed either medicines max dose in 24 hours!

jingleoooggs · 13/12/2004 21:56

I hope it gets sorted soon, his has just finished another 9oz of milk - that's a whole pint before bed . But is still screaming . Will ring NHS and we are up to HV tomorrow for weight check anyway.

good luck. dd is poorly too so will be awake same as youx

Sounds like he is poorly rather than suffering from just jet lag. We have been back from Australia 2 weeks now with a 2 year old and an 8 month old. The only problems we have is them waking at 4 in the morning and then they only need settling and will go back to sleep.
