DH and I are off to Paris next month. We've both been before quite a few times - although, many years ago and before we met. We're keen to get off the beaten track in the city a bit, any top venues or sights please?

You need to watch Les Frenchies on YouTube. Their videos are concise and informative. They live just outside Paris so there's an element of them being tourists themselves. They're originally from Florida but the husband is actually French. Great restaurants, attractions, and some less well known spots I think you're looking for. Enjoy your trip!

Not sure if it counts as 'off the beaten track' but we love wandering around the Marais / St Paul. Lots of little streets and shops to explore and the best falafels ever. Not far from Notre Dame but feels much more peaceful.

Should have added that you can walk from there out to Père Lachaise cemetery which is worth a visit if you've never been.

My favourite museum is the Jacquemart-Andre. Stunning building and art, and stay for the bargain prix fixe lunch in the midst of the art. Very special.

Hotel de la Marine on the Place de la Concorde is like a mini Versailles; beautiful. If you can, take the RER A to Rueil Malmaison and go to the Château Malmaison which was Napoleon and Joséphine Bonaparte's.

Favourite quartier is Les Halles (Chatelet). Start at E Dehillerin for the most amazing cookware shop (beloved by Julia Child) then wander around the area. If you like crafting, nearby La Drogherie is a treasure trove.

Montmartre: start by Abbesses and walk up the back way via Bateau Lavoir, Maison Dalida and Maison Rouge.

Canal Saint Martin is a lovely area, surrounded by waterside bars and restaurants.

Favourite churches: St Germain dès Près, and the chapelle notre-dame de la médaille miraculeuse. It's very special. Plus it's next to Le Bon Marché which has an amazing food hall so a super place for lunch before shopping.

La Felicita is worth a detour; great for brunch. Or any of the Big Mamma chain.

do a sewer tour! It's a bit stinky but very cool and nothing worse than you smell as a parent!

Ooh that really is off the beaten track @DoloresDoors! 😁

thank you for the tips, please keep them coming!

We walked along the Promenade Plantée when we went a couple of months ago - it's a raised linear park/walkway that starts near Bastille and goes east. It was the inspiration for New York's High Line Park. Beautifully kept, takes you through (and above) some quite interesting neighbourhoods.

Les Puces is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

We've just come back from Paris and thoroughly enjoyed the standard well worn track because it's beautiful and not over crowded.

I hadn't been for a few years so enjoyed walking around as it's a very walkable City.

Not quite sure why you want to go off the beaten track particularly but we stayed in the Bastille / Marais area which feels very local and has great shops and restaurants and felt very authentic with not as many tourists as the main attractions.

I was recommended this book a few years ago. Not sure how current it is now, but a good place for some ideas and inspiration.

Not exactly a secret but I have never seen the Musee Rodin busy. I love wandering round the garden.
