Is Disneyland Paris just a glorified Legoland/Chessington?

Hi all,

I have 3 under 5 and I was recently thinking of taking them to Disney for a 2 night/2-days in the park trip. I really want to give them this magical experience when they're still young enough to believe in all the characters and the magic. I have managed to get it down to about £1500 in early September (Eurostar, hotel and park admission inclusive) but I still feel like that's super steep especially as they won't be tall enough for many of the rides (the eldest two are just over a metre). I could just as easily spend half that money for a number of days out and about in the UK.

Would love some thoughts on this, thank you so much x

Thinking about this for February half term with DD who will be 9 (just). How many days/nights should we go for and what's the difference between weekend/mid-week?

Had I not been to Florida though, I would have liked it a lot tbf. It is not to compare with anything else, and I could go just to go on Haunted Mansion!

I think your kids are too young op..

We went earlier this year to Disneyland Paris for 3 days. I would not describe the experience as magical.

Stayed at the Newport Bay Club. The hotel was overwhelmingly huge and felt tired, and the pool was very cold. The food was surprisingly good however, if very expensive.

Most of the rides were shut during the “golden hour”, which was a real disappointment as we booked a Disney hotel with this in mind and had got up really early to take advantage of the quieter time.

Especially as the park was horrendously crowded - 50 minutes + for all rides, even the teacups. A lot of walking and boredom to be honest, for rides that were over in minutes.

I’m glad that we’ve done it, but it didn’t live up to expectations and we won’t be hurrying back.

I'm going in 9 weeks time so I do hope it's a lot better than that! We are doing 5 nights but it's 4 nights and 5 days at Disney hotel, a different hotel for the night we arrive.

From what I've seen online there's lots for even very little ones (babies) to do as no restrictions re height on a fair amount of rides. U may as well go while some of them are free (under3) but it will be hard work!

Ours is costing £2200 for 2 adults and 2 kids. (3&6). That's accommodation, flights and tickets. With airport transfers and spends I expect this to come in around £3,500.

God if they're all under 5, take them to Gulliver's for a few days. They can go on all the rides, they'll have more fun because they wont be traipsing for miles and waiting in super long queues...There's a water centre etc and you can get themed camp/cabins etc.

@Toprepandhowmuch we stayed at Newport too. My god the corridors nearly killed me.. 😂

It’s not that great it’s ok I suppose. We’ve been to lots of different places with ours who are teens now and they never mention DLP as somewhere that sticks in their minds or was particularly inspiring.

My son took his two children 9 & 6 to Euro Disney this May because he thought they were both at the right age to appreciate the experience.
He stayed in a camper van parked nearby as he’d travelled from Spain.
He was extremely lucky with the weather, sunshine & dry the 4 days that he spent there.
It was a nostalgic visit as my son went there 30 years ago when he was about 8.
We drove/ferry and stayed in The Davey Crockett accommodation which was basic.
They had a fantastic time there and the trip exceeded their expectations.
They did plan their days though using advice they found on the internet though, to avoid the queues.
I think your children would appreciate the trip more when they’re taller & a bit older.

@shelbabab you might want to consider taking the train into Paris for a day, there's a train station at the gate to Disneyland. There's not enough to do at Disneyland for 5 days, and I say that as a person who loves it.

shelbabab · 24/07/2023 14:45

@Wheresmyrobe I'd actually quite like to but I don't think the kids wld want to. Not sure I cld be doing with the hassle either.

The 5th day isn't a full one we, will be heading to airport about 2pm. We just wanted to have plenty of time without rushing around. Have a lie in if we want some days. Come bk to hotel for a break and head bk if we feel like it. I know it's busy busy so want some time to rest and not just be exhausted. We also have a pool at the hotel so will prob do that one day and head out to the park for late afternoon/evening.
