3 or 4 days in Switzerland. Where best for a base?

Hoping to drive to Italy next year and would like to stop in Switzerland for a few days. Everywhere looks amazing! Any recommendations? Kids will be 13 and 7. They like campsites with slides, playgrounds and ice creams. We like good public transport and a town to walk to, ideally lakeside or views and some good things we can do without having to move the campervan. Lucerne? Lausanne? Interlaken? Thanks all

Hi. We we got back a couple weeks ago from holidays with teens in Switzerland. Stayed at the lauterbrunnen campsite which we liked but there is no pool on the campsite and approx 20-25 min walk to train station. Kids enjoyed the village pool in lauterbrunnen. Also went to the pool in wengen which was actually much better. We went to “the beach” in Interlaken but didn’t really like it as so busy.

We didn’t make it over to grindelwald and first. That is probably nice area though.

the views at lauterbrunnen campsite are amazing to wake up to. In terms of things to do from there we did walk to trummelbach falls which was nice. On the actual campsite not much to do for teens except table tennis.

I’d recommend the Manor Farm campsite at Interlaken.
Eurocamp have a base there and others, possibly Yello.
Free bus into Interlaken , a 40 minute flat walk if you’re feeling like a leg stretch.

The Lauterbrunnen site pp mentioned is in a spectacular valley but our Eurocamp staff member said it only got sun for a few hours given the steep sides of the valley.

We stayed at Manor Farm which is very close to Interlaken. https://www.eurocamp.co.uk/campsites/switzerland/bernese-oberland/manor-farm-campsite We did it through Eurocamp but they have pitches for caravans too.

In terms of transport the trains around the area are excellent. Download the sbb app and you will be sorted for checking train times

Down the end of the valley after the Brienzersee lake is the aareschlucht ( sp) and also the Reichenbach falls up a spectacular funicular.

Just on the edge of Interlaken in the Harderbahn, the funicular up to Harder Klum, with its viewing platform of both lakes and the Eiger.

Theres a train goes from Interlaken , through the Eiger mountain up to one of the Jungfrau peaks. But it’s expensive. Back in 2017 it was something like £130 per person.

Have a look Campo Felice in Tenero. It's on the lake, has a pool and activities. You can walk to Ascona along the lake.
I'm also sure there is a campsite along lake geneva (could be Morges or Nyon) where you have direct access to the lake and local pool.

We’ve stayed at Camping Jungfrau in Lauterbrunnen a few times en route to Italy. Beautiful. You can dump the car and use public transport to get into Interlaken or up into the mountains. Not loads to do for teens but bike hire, a small playground and a pool in the village

Jungfraujoch costs £500 for family of 4 now. Expensive day trip.
