Semi active family holiday

Hello,

After two years of all inclusive holidays we want to do something which has more activities for the kids. They are 10 & 7 and full of beans! It was too hot for them to do tennis, football this year in Kos, so they spent most of the time in the pool and at a fairly good kids club.

They want to be able to do a morning of cycling/ sport / activities and afternoon by the pool. They are happy to do organised activities or some with us. Not UK as we want better weather. I was wondering about Euro camps with cabana style accommodation? Eg not tents!

Any suggestions are greatly received

Have a look at some Alpine ski resorts. Lots have an activity programme run by tourist office or ski school and offer free lift and bus passes.

Ours are similar ages and we have the same requirements!

Agree with alpine resorts - you could look at Simply Morzine or Alpine Elements if you want something with an organised elements. Think we will do one of these next summer.

Another option is a watersports holiday in Greece - you can sign them up for a morning doing windsurfing or sailing course etc and then they have a free afternoon. For this you could look at Trek Adventures, Ocean Elements, Wildwind, Club Vass, Nikiana.

Mark Warner or Neilson do the watersports courses plus tennis, cycling etc but it’s expensive and you may be paying for stuff you won’t use, especially if it’s too hot to do the land based activities and/or they just want to be in the pool in the pms (this was our experience).

Have a look at Domaine de La Bergerie in the south of France

Thanks so much for the suggestions. This has given us some food for thought!
DH and I are fairly active, but sometimes we just want to sit a read a book! Something we could opt in and out of the activities with the kids would be amazing. I'm just not sure another resort which is too hot to do very much is for us again.

Do they like water based activities?

We really enjoyed Morzine/Les Gets in the summer if you like swimming in lakes or the big outdoor pools. Theres lots of mountain biking by accessing the ski lifts plus hiking, and an indoor ice rink in town. It’s a very English friendly french town and if you stay in a linked accommodation the activity pass for the week was really good value. Just be warned we had really hot weather at end of July even in the mountains, one day it peaked at 42c before a big storm hit and temperature dropped to a heavenly 22c in the space of an hour. The Tour de France has just gone through this area so you can catch the scenery on last weekends highlights on ITV.
