Can anyone recommend a site that is well rated with good facilities and things to do nearby, but is also one of the easiest sites to drive to?

This could be our first time so want it to be as easy as possible but also really enjoyable so we want to go again!

Thanks

We went in May to our first, ferry from Portsmouth to Cean and a 25 minute drive to Le Vallee.. very easy and straight forward. Lovely quiet drive and fabulous site.

Look at pierre et vacances too as an alternative, we liked the ones we stayed at

There are so many it drove me demented looking! In the end we went for centre parcs in Holland. Het Meerdal. Got the overnight ferry from hull to Rotterdam drove 1.5 hours to the park. Was brilliant. Loads to do and really lovely. Kids are 3 and 10 months. It's also significantly cheaper than Center parcs uk. You can also drive from Calais if you want I think it's about 2.5 hours maybe?

It would depend where you live surely?

We've driven from Scotland to Dover, then Dover to Calais then on to La Croix du Vieux Pont. Very easy drive. We've been twice and loved it both times.

Domaine des Ormes is 30 minutes from St Malo

If you're going by ferry Yelloh Village Les Mouettes is 15 minutes from Roscoff ferry port.
Its a fab site with indoor and outdoor pools, slides etc and the surrounding area is lovely. Not sure if eurocamp still do it but others will if not.

We have stayed at domaine des ormes years ago and liked it

It depends on where you are in the UK an how long you want to spend on the ferry, also how old your children are. Last year we got the eurotunnel train and stayed in Luxembourg which was about 4 hours from calais. DS was a couple of weeks off being 1. This year we got the ferry from Poole to Cherbourg with a nearly 2 year old, which was honestly the worst part of the trip, and both me a DH said we won't be doing a long ferry again. There was not much to entertain him, he wanted to run around all the time, he's very independent (wont hold hands/be picked up) which on a ferry is not ideal, and just got bored very easily. We got Caen-Portsmouth ferry back, which was marginally better as the play room was a bit better. We hope to do Eurocamp again next year, but looking at sites within 3/4 hours of Calais so we can get the train again which IMO is so much easier and less stressful, we will also have a nearly 8 month old which adds to the hassle. Sites I've looked at are La Croix du Viewpont, La Vallee in Normandy and Domaine du Drancourt. Also need to think about what you want out of the area, We went to the Vendee this year which was just a big holiday destination, lots of beachs, some of the towns were a bit tacky, not much in the way of culture. In Luxembourg we much more enjoyed the area a lot more things to see and do, lots of castles and history. Campsite this year was a lot better, we stayed Le Pin Parasol great facilities. If you don't mind the longer ferry, there are some lovely sites in Brittany/normandy which are within an hours drive of ports.
