Talk to me about Benidorm

There are 8 of us (including a toddler and an infant) travelling to Benidorm next month for a family holiday. I've never been before and I am just looking forward to a bit of sun and spending time with my loved ones.

Does anyone have any advice/experience/words of wisdom at all about the area? We are staying in the old town and love exploring in the evenings. We are a family who does enjoy the odd drink and eating out every now and again and the days will probably be spend by the beach or at the pool with the little ones.

Also - we are full board but do enjoy trying a couple of restaurants, and trying different bars in the evening, has anyone been recently who knows what the prices are like?

Thank you in advance for any advice :)

The fact that you’re staying in the old town is good - it’s pretty. There’s a weekly market which is worth a visit.

We had a cheap break there when our DC were little and stayed near Levante beach. It’s pretty grim down that end.

If you do head to the strip (wouldn’t recommend but people like the novelty of it), be careful with pick pocketing. Also, a lot of the ‘acts’ aren’t child friendly, and they rotate between venues so even if you move to a different bar, there’s a chance they’ll catch up with you.

Definitely stay near the old town as much as possible 😊😊

The old town is lovely, tapas alley is worth a visit for food. Lots of places to try out.
There is also lots of nice shops in the old town too.
I like Levante beach too, it's really clean and looked after. There is a water park, zoo etc so lots for days out if you want them.

I saw people with little ones watching the "entertainment" near the strip and on the front. And I thought, what the fuck are they thinking bringing kids in here.

Deffo stick to the old town

Yep echo everyone saying stick to the old town.

The new town is not for kids.

Yeah don't go and see sticky Vicky with the kiddies 😆

Hundreds of thousands visit every year and go no where near the strip !!
It's one street in a very vibrant city.
The Poniente side of Benidorm is lively and buzzing.
Lots of investment recently.
There is a small local beach Mal Pas in the Old Town very shallow water so ideal for smaller children.
Get there early for a pitch near the front or sun-beds are available all day for 6€.
Lots of small bars in he Old Town give a free tapa with every drink
Or try the local Tapa square off of Avenue Ruzafa very popular at lunch time. A jug of beer or bottle of wine and 6 tapa for 8€.
The alleys off of walking street with small tapa bars. All well worth a visit.
The Mercadona or Consum supermarket in the are good for supplies. Sun cream is good value.
You can walk all the way along the Poniente beach with lots of lovely restaurants many offer Menu Del Dia.
My favourite is around Avenue Jamie. Lots of lovely small local bars and cafes and shops.
Children are welcome everywhere in the Old Town and it's not unusual to see whole families enjoying the atmosphere an cool night air well past midnight.

"It's one street in a very vibrant city."

The strip is but the whole area around it is just as...erm, blue. Keep the kids away!
